Appreciate the info. Hope they will make 9.1 available on the release date.

9.1 PB is currently available. 9.0 is what's going to be available publicly next week. I have no idea how long it will take Apple to officially release 9.1, but unless something changes dramatically, I can tell you that I will probably never install 9.0. The 9.0 GM doesn't seem to be much (if any) better than the final 9.0 beta, and the 9.1 PB is way ahead of the 9.0 PB on my Air 2.

can someone explain to me why there is a 9.1 public test build? I get that as devs we get post x.0 releases but why does the public need it? I thought the norm was that the public test until 9.0 and then no more?

There were public betas for 8.3 and 8.4 as I recall. It's not just for X.0 releases.

Wow, iOS9 is not even out to the masses yet and 9.1 is being seeded. Does that mean there's more issues with 9.0 then we know about at this time?
Not necessarily. Could be mostly in relation to some APIs and some other things related to the iPad Pro that aren't part of 9.0.

The carrier update on T-Mobile, from 9.0GM to 9.1GM seems a lot worse. LTE and 4 bars in this hotel room with 9.0GM. With 9.1 Beta, 1 bar, and 4G (hard to get LTE). Why they would tweak and mess this up is beyond me.

Most likely that is the deal. However its strange they would release public beta when the iPad Pro is not even available yet. Apparently there is more to this update than meets the eye. From the looks of things performance was a big piece for certain devices (6+ and iPads) Cant say I saw a lot of difference on iP6 between GM and 9.1 but in fairness I only had GM for a few hours before updating. Also a few apps stopped working on 9.1 that were fine on 9.0 GM.

Is anyone else having issues with contacts sent to your Apple watch not working after installing the 9.1 beta 1 OS? I installed it and now my watch doesn't know who anyone is. All incoming messages come up as just numbers instead of names and the quick contacts have names, but no photos. I think this is related to the latest beta update, but I wanted to see if anyone else had this happen.

Is it the same on your phone? In the past there were issues as you describe on the phones and there were a few fixes depending on the carrier. Since the Watch is getting its info from the phone then that could be the issue. If phone is ok then no idea.

iOS 9.1 fixed a few bugs for me that i had in 9.0. I was pleasantly surprised when my custom vibrations were working. A few apps that got stuck also came back.

No, The phone seems just fine, but it won't give proper access to the contacts on my Apple Watch. I'm thinking about resetting it or doing a little more searching. Right now, just the watch is having problems.

So far, so smooth on my iPhone 6.
App switching, Notes and Siri have been my most notable differences.

Can someone list the steps for removing the public beta profile? Thanks!

Actually it was Motorola that pioneered this many years ago in the first MotoX. However since its in iPhone now obviously Apple invented it.

I don't care at all anymore, especially since Moto management was a worse bag of chicken lickers than even Apple has today. I do feel a little sad for all the Motorola engineers that lost their jobs- they were the best sound and radio geniuses ever collected together in one company.
Thanks. I couldn't remember who it was that came up with it. Hopefully they're working for a stable company now.

Any noticeable difference on iPhone 5s? Is WhatsApp working?

I'm currently running 9.1 PB on a 5S and it's very fast, responsive and smooth. So far it's working great with all my apps. I don't have WhatsApp, so I can't weigh in there.

Overall it works just as good if not better than iOS 8.x.

How do I go from the public beta to the public release of iOS 9? Do I not update to 9.1 and wait for regular 9.0 to come out and upgrade OTA?

9.1 update will probably be released for the iPadPro ... Giving Apple more time to tweak n perfect update for the Pro..

No that's 2 different things. To update to public release (next Wed) just wait and iOS 9 release should appear in settings>software update without you doing anything. To go to 9.1 PB you have to install the beta profile then it will show up in same area. IF you install 9.1 PB, then next Wednesday the iOS 9 release will not appear as an available update.

What about removing 9.1 beta to GM?

That would require you download the IPSW file for the iOS 9.0 GM and restore via iTunes. Keep in mind that 9.1 backups will not restore to 9.0 iOS so you will need an iOS 9.0 or older backup available to restore your data unless you just setup as new.

So your saying I can't hit shift / update, manually update with the file and retain my stuff and settings?

Well I have done that in the past and it worked fine (ios 7 or 8). The right way it to restore it or even DFU restore. No idea if iOS 9/9.1 will be different and not allow an "update" backwards or how well it will work. Best option is to get a backup from an older version and save it somewhere (or simply rename the folder in the iTunes folder). Then you can always restore that to newer versions.
