Hoping this fixes the battery and heat issue seen in beta 5. Really odd they that skipped right over the GM for public beta... Means I'll never actually run iOS 9 release.

Edit: Scratch that. I'll have the iOS 9 release on my 6s. Probably gonna have a fresh start and just re-install the apps I need.

Had the previous beta versions installed and 9 is not released to the public fully yet, then get prompted to update to 9.1 - 1.5GB size. The thing I noticed immediately was the News app :) When it loads you have to choose at least one new provider - I chose Polygon.

Super smooth. Seems to work pretty great with third party keyboard even on spotlight search. 9.1 is definitely smooth.

Also the selection mechasim is improved. You see the word you're selecting now.

Can confirm News app for UK. Can't wait to get started. I was bummed when Zite got bought out by Flipboard and they totally screwed it up. Hoping News will be more like Zite.

I installed 9.1 and when i plugged in to itunes to sync it wont let me because im running an older version of itunes. My Mac is running osx 10.6.8 and I have vst plug ins that aren't compatible with el Capitan. It won't allow me to update iTunes on my Mac. I hope that next week apple releases an update for iTunes for those like me that are running an older osx software. any work arounds for this?

11.4 was the last version of iTunes to support 10.6.8, which will not support iOS 9. Considering iTunes 12 was never patched to work with 10.6, I don't see Apple bothering now. If you want to continue to sync your phone to your computer you will at least have to upgrade to Lion, which Apple still sells on their website (not in the App Store) for $20. Yosemite would be a free upgrade for you, but I'm not sure if your plugins will still work.

The other option would be to create a second partition or install a second drive into your Mac and run 10.10/10.11 on it with the latest version of iTunes, or you could backup to iCloud.

My mini 3 feels so fresh now. With this update i feel like i can hold off for the Air 3 so much easier

Dude just update. There's no reason for you to be running an OS that old. There's no way you're covered with all the latest security and bug fixes. You're probably making yourself more open to issues than necessary. I'm sure you can find a fix for whatever it is that's not compatible with El Capitan. Even then, that's still a beta and you don't have to go that far. But at least go as far as Mountain Lion or Yosemite.

So basically, if you are not running an iPad or aren't interested in the middle finger/taco emoji, these update is meaningless for the rest of us...correct?

If you read the replies, this 9.1 beta is a lot more stable and smoother than iOS 9 GM.

For the first time, I don't think I'll be upgrading to iOS 9 release at all, I'll stay on iOS 8.4.1 before iOS 9.1 release for my iPhone 6 Plus. It's quite disappointing really, as this iteration was meant to be general improvements over previous versions, but it runs beta 5 runs like a hog, and others are saying the GM is similar on iPhone 6 Plus :(

I still can't get public transportation directions to work on my iphone 4s. Is this feature just not there on ios 9 for the older devices?

I have 9.0 public on my iPad 2 air and noticed the profile missing so I went to reinstall and it just crashes when I hit install on the profile pop up. Back to my home screen.. Hmmm
