I've been having a problem with any USB connected devices becoming inactive when my 13" 2013 rMBP wakes from sleep. Hoping this resolves the issue given the references to USB in the keyboard/trackpad freeze errors.

Anyone else been having USB mice/drives lock up after waking from sleep?

C'mon hurry up, who's going to be the first to still have issues after the update.

I had tons of issues getting Windows 7 onto my new rMBP. I tried three different high speed USB drives and none worked. Finally went to the store and bought the cheapest Sandisk 16GB USB drive I could find and it worked like a charm.

Just ordered myself a maxed out 15" rMBP. I'll have to check this. However, I have the Windows 7 install DVD & an external DVD drive. I wonder if that'll be any different?

I do have this issue in my 15-inch retina macbook pro

You have your trackpad/keyboard/mouse freeze for seconds? Or do you have UI lag.

The two are not related and only the 13" seems to have the first problem.

I tried that, and it did work for getting Windows onto the Macbook. Problem was it didn't install any drivers at all.. Only the trackpad and keyboard would work. No USB drivers were loaded at install so when I put the USB stick in with the Bootcamp drivers it didn't even recognize the stick. And since there were no network drivers I couldn't just download them. And since OSX wouldn't write to NTFS I could just copy them to the bootcamp partition from within OSX. It truly was a WTF moment. That's when I broke down and bought the cheap USB drive and just started over.

15" Update is as follows:

MacBook Pro Retina EFI Update 1.2

This update is recommended for MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, late 2013) models with NVIDIA graphics.

This update addresses an issue which, in rare cases, may limit the performance of the discrete graphics processor after a system wake or boot.

Nice! Now if only they could resolve the IR issue with retina displays I could buy with confidence:)

Just did the update on my late 2013 15" rMBP and everything seems ok.

People on the Apple discussion thread are saying they are still getting the same error after this update. :(

Now everyone can stop complaining enough to the point they feel like they have to return their Mac.

I'm not sure why it was suggested that returning freezing MacBooks was unreasonable. It was a deal-breaking flaw to many, and Apple didn't say when it would be fixed. I'm glad it has been fixed so quickly, until the fix was out, returning it seemed completely justified.

The only thing odd is to think that this kind of defect would remain unfixed for a long period of time. Almost all units were affected and Apple announced that is is working on a fix. Which is now available.

I can understand that someone needs a working and reliable computer immediately. But there should be no reason to not expect a rather quick fix.

It's great to see Apple releasing these updates so quickly. Nobody else can do this. This is why buying Apple is best because they control the whole experience and really take care of all their customers.

Do you happen to use a Logitech mouse?

Razer Death Adder mouse, iMic, and WD MyBook - all connected through a USB hub. I haven't had the rMBP long enough to work through and figure out if it's the hub, mouse, or drive that's could be causing the issue. The problem did predate the arrival of the iMic though.

Beyond frustrating though.

Accepting shipment of 13 rMBP Nov. 14 at Apple store

Wonder if it will arrive with the update installed or will I need to update?

Waiting to hear feedback on Battery life after installing this "fix", before purchasing mines.

Apple COULD have set the system up to think a USB device is plugged in 24/7, causing the USB port to use unneeded power, to "fix" the problem.

But it wasn't a hardware problem. The post above mine explains this well. The people who returned it gained nothing.

If I had returned mine I'd be praying hard that I didn't send back a perfectly good laptop for one with real hardware/display issues.

I knew it was software related becuase it never gave me any trouble in Windows 7. Only when I switched over to Mavericks did it act up. Had I not known that early on I may have considered exchanging it.

Is that error also gone that pops up every minute in your system log or error log (or whatever its called)?
