You have your trackpad/keyboard/mouse freeze for seconds? Or do you have UI lag.

The two are not related and only the 13" seems to have the first problem.

On the 13" rMBP, the keyboard and mouse stop responding altogether (not just for a few seconds, but forever). Apple's suggestion was to close the lid for a minute and then re-open. I've only had a few instances of this (one before Apple suggestion so I did a hard reset, and one after which the sleep trick resolved).

Hopefully this will fix it!

Is that error also gone that pops up every minute in your system log or error log (or whatever its called)?

That log entry is not an error and not visible only on late 2013 rMBP. On Apple forums a user said that the same entries are visible on his 2010 MBP.

The actual bug is very likely related to this wake up event, but the event itself (and the log entry) are not bugs and should happen (and should be written to the log). This is how I understand this issue.

Hmm.. my '12 15" rMBP has this issue sometimes.. keyboard unresponsive, have to use my tablet to restart.

If this is only for 2013 13" macbooks its a joke. My 2010 MBP is completely unusable since updating to mavericks.

Tried updating. My 13" rMBP has been stuck on the 'Installing 1 item' screen for over an hour. On phone with Apple support now....

And millions of 13" Haswell rMBP owners sighed with relief. :p

Millions? Plural? So that'd be a minimum of 2 million. No way have that many been sold. They haven't even sold 1/4 of that. It's only been 16 days since its release.

:D

(Last quarter, Apple sold 4.6 million Macs.)

I just can't wait until all the bugs have been worked out so I can go out and grab one of these.

These little issues that typically pop up when a new apple product is released always worries me that there is a hardware issue, but every time Apple is able to release a firmware update to fix the problem.

It's great to see Apple releasing these updates so quickly. Nobody else can do this. This is why buying Apple is best because they control the whole experience and really take care of all their customers.

Hi Tim.

It just works eventually. The new Magic.

My 13" rMBP is stuck on the "Installing Software Update" screen.

Anyone have any tips? Is it safe to do a hard restart?

If it helps, I've had the trackpad/keyboard issue a few times since I bought it but it's always been fixed by using Apple's recommended close lid / open lid method.

For anyone else having the same problem - I did a forced restart.

After turning the machine back on, it automatically started the EFI update and everything seems fine so far.

But it wasn't a hardware problem. The post above mine explains this well. The people who returned it gained nothing.

Well having your laptop repeatedly freeze, probably isn't very good for the integrity of the data on your drive. It could well have corrupted system files, which may cause issues later on.

Late 2013 rMBP, 13in, 4/128

Installed the update last night and all went well.

But this morning had a strange event happen. After the MBP went to sleep I went to wake it up by touching the track pad and nothing happened—no wake up. Then I started hitting keys, even the power key, and nothing happened.

Guess what worked? Closing and reopening the lid!

I hope this is a onetime event and not a new issue.

13" rmbp late 2012

Anyone have this issue on a 13" rMBP Late 2012?

This happened to my Late 2012. This update won't install on a Late 2012. I guess Apple doesn't care about 2012 anymore.

What about the 15"?! This has already happened to me three times and I don't have a 13", I have a 15".

At least the previous EFI solved the Kernel Panicks.

Lock up after firmware release

My 13" is 2 weeks old. Went to Apple store last night after updating new firmware. It locked up during my One on 0ne. They said it was a trackpad issue and replaced it on the spot. It locked up again this morning. I am really disappointed. I want to love this machine. This wouldn't happen on Steve's watch.
