It's handy having "Hey Siri" turned on in the car, though. At least Siri could have started playing music on my phone, I'd say! My Siri responses have become crazier and crazier the past month... it worked much better for me 4 years ago or so ago.
I wish I could turn off "Hey Siri" on my iPhone only when I'm at home.

Holy crap. They actually fixed it!. Siri is incredibly fast on my pods now (both OG and Minis). Not only that, but the actual "latency" when you ask something and Siri answers back is almost non existent now, no delay.

Homekit is working correctly again (so far, I updated last night and been testing them all morning).

I cannot believe it!. This has been borked since at least audioOS 14.

A DRAMATIC difference.

As for sound, is great. The default sound signature is still a tad "beats like" to my ears, but thankfully the "reduce bass" toggle bring them back closer to, say, the Airpods Max, which is fantastic in my book.

You can also ask Siri: "Hey Siri, turn off the bass"

Update ASAP, people.

Apple finally mostly fixed the HomePod! This update has been great so far. HomeKit devices all work again. Even HomeKit devices that worked fine before seem to be faster. Siri answers requests faster. I'm guessing this is faster coordination if multiple Siri's pick up your voice. Maybe 2023 will be the year the HomePod doesn't feel like a second-class Apple product.

The only thing I'm disappointed with is the HomePods use of a Private MAC Address for HomePods linked to an Apple TV. My router constantly alerts me that a new device joined the network. I can't customize router settings for the device because the MAC address is always changing. The routers alerts of new devices joining the network is a security feature and the false positives created by the HomePod reduces the security of my home network. When I see those alerts, I assume it is just my HomePods changing their MAC address yet again rather then a potential breach of my home network. The only thing I can think of is that maybe to get lower latency the linked HomePods use ad-hoc Wi-Fi and have a bug in how the MAC addresses are allocated when switching to that mode. Apple uses ad-hoc Wi-Fi for a lot of scenarios and doesn't have this issue anywhere else. It actually seemed to be fixed after the 16.3.1 update, but only for the first boot.

Testing my morning audio automation right before bed. (I use a Belkin Soundform to play Radio via Apple Music through my home audio system.) All worked fine.

This morning, no music, no wakey.

Restarting HomePod mini three times and it seems to be working again. But will I awake on time tomorrow?

Can say so far all day Siri is now completing commands first go, instead of having to repeat a second time on my OGs. So far, so good!
Yea I think she only said one sec twice in about a week and then did the thing right after. And she definitely is faster to complete the request. I wish she could get consistent when watching stuff though. If she gives options less than half the time saying first/second one will work. Otherwise, she will keep saying there are options.

Yeah, there's lot of idiosyncrasies with Siri. I still haven't figured out even the simplest things, e.g. in my main bedroom I have a ceiling light, and a bedside lamp. If I tell Siri to turn on the main bedroom, light, she turns on both the ceiling light and the lamp. If I tell Siri to turn on the main bedroom ceiling light, - all is well.

In my kitchen, though, I have the ceiling light, under-cabinet lights, and bar lights. If I say to Siri to turn on the Kitchen ceiling light, she turns on all those lights. If I just ask her to turn on the kitchen light, she just turns on the kitchen ceiling light. Eh?!

None of this makes sense, but you just learn to navigate around the Siri nonsense.

Totally relate to this. I have one of those Meross smart multi plug with 6 sockets. Each socket is individually controllable and nameable within the Home app making 6 different smart items as such. When I ask for the living room lights to turn off, Siri turns off all 6 plugs. Yet only 2 are lights and labelled as lights within the home app which is incredibly annoying.
But if I say plainly 'Hey Siri, lights' Siri does the opposite of the current state, so turns off just the lights when they're on (and vice versa). This works every time and doesn't turn off the other 4 sockets. Which is exactly what I want.
Its like if I say 'living room' followed by another word, she ignores the following word and just nukes the whole living room. I shouldn't have to be extremely particular in my wording on requests but that's just how its gone with Siri 🤷‍♂️

And now for the first time after an update to "fix" Siri, she totally failed to turn the light on twice in a row. And I don't know if it only worked the third time because I specified bedroom lights.

As it happened a few minutes ago (a snapshot of my typical experience with HomeKit, HomePods and the Home App): Home App is showing me, that the Homepod Mini Hub in the bathroom is not responding. The associated automation (HomePod is supposed to play something in the bathroom) is not working. But when you tab onto the HomePod symbol in the Home App, you can see the info of the song the HomePod is supposed to play and when you click on play, it starts playing immediately without problems….

The while infrastructure around HomeKit with the catastrophic Home App and the Homepods is a complete and utter sh!tshow.

They are way too bass heavy now unfortunately, even with "reduce bass" off.

Voices are too boomy now.

Hm... what were you asking the first and second times?
Hay Siri, lights on which normally works. Worked the third time with Hey Siri, Bedroom lights on. Been working ever since with just lights on. Was just that one time.

Edit the other annoying one that used to work but not now:

Hey Siri, change timer to one hour.

You only have one timer for 45 minutes, should I change that one?

Yes.

How long do you want me to change it to.

I already told you in the initial request!!!
