Have Apple gotten HomePod to work seamlessly with macOS yet (without significant latency)?

[ In other words, is there finally support in Sequoia for the low-latency protocol iOS/tvOS have had for years ]

and of course this brand new Siri device won’t support new Siri, right?

This reinforces the prediction that we won't see any HomePod with built-in Apple Intelligence. A $99 HomePod mini was never going to have an a17 Pro or M-series chip. Apple Intelligence will work in tandem with a supported iPhone on the network and new Siri will be cloud-based, perhaps even an iCloud+ service.

Doesn't seem to be the case. Latency is still an issue for me. (m1 air and minis). Don't have the issue with full sized homepods hooked up to apple tv and tv output.

Not sure I’ll buy these again. My Apple TV 4K doesn’t detect HomePod minis lately without any changes to WiFi network.

Orange is my favorite color, and I really wanted to like the orange hpm, but it's too red for me. Of course we needed yet another shade of grey, "nearly" identical to the prior model.

How much innovating does a speaker really need? Seriously, I cannot think of anything else I want a mini to do other than what it already does or what I would get from buying a full-size homepod.
I can think of several, while still keeping the spirit and price of HomePod mini intact:
  • S9 or newer for faster and more accurate on-device Siri
  • Improved drivers and microphones
  • Room sensing auto calibration

Doesn't have to be a "serious entry" when it could easily be a "passable" product in this space. If they didn't want people using it that way they shouldn't have allowed them to be paired with an apple tv. But pairing a set of these with a set of full sized homepods would be enough of a "home theatre" for 90% of people...
The product doesn't sell well, so Apple isn't going to discourage a use case, even if it's not an ideal one.

Wow, how dare they release that thing today and never update it with Apple Intelligence ?
It'll be stuck with a dumb Siri forever.
It's mind-boggling...

That's not innovation, though. Sure, I also want the mini to get faster and better at what it already does. And the homepod does room sensing calibration and there's got to be something that separates it from the mini. People here seem to be decrying the lack of innovation, but what do they expect? A mini that sprouts legs and follows you around? Actually that would be great, get on it, Apple.

Yeah, I love orange but wasn't impressed by this version of it. I'd like to see comparison between Midnight and Space Grey when it's released.

Apple isn't even positioning it as "New Siri".

It's all "Apple Intelligence". Like, there isn't a new Siri. But Siri will be able to make use of Apple Intelligence.

But no, Apple is definitely not giving a $99 HomePod Apple Intelligence as an update while the $999+iPhones 14 Pro and $799+ 15/15 Plus don't get it
