"Apple Releases iCloud for Windows version 13 With Support for ProRes, ProRAW, and Strong Password Generation"
I got surprised by the "Windows 13" too. ?
Not sure that solves the problem-- it still reads like version modifies Windows. It could be iCloud 13 for Windows, maybe. But probably best to just leave the version number out of the title, since it's a minor detail, and leave the explanatory text in the article.

Then just delete the comment section entirely and start again...

wouldn't "Apple Releases iCloud version 13 for Windows" be even more clear?

no, because they have not released a new version of iCloud, they have released a new version of iCloud for Windows, the program windows users can use to access iCloud from the desktop.

But there are far more people having an iPhone and a Windows PC than having having an iPhone and a Mac (even the M1 MacBook Air).

There are lots of PC users who owns an iPhone and some other accessories like APPs, an iPad and not fully into Apple's ecosystem.
Also, not everyone works in the media industry (photos/videos/media creation).
It would help if software makers would create Mac versions of their software which many are only available for Windows so some of us can try the MacBooks instead of having to rely VM software to run Windows software.

iCloud for Windows is a pain, at least Photos. It doesn't work well except to use as backup.

Mac computer is so much more expensive than PC, and marketshare of Mac is still pretty tiny. If Mac has 100% marketshare then more software devs would jump in.

I personally really want M1 Mac to run x86 windows and run x86 windows applications with decent performance.

Windows 13 - I thought I may have been in a coma for a few years - or Microsoft is pumping out windows updates faster that ever before ?

I'd really like an update for iTunes for Windows because it still feels slow and clunky. Maybe they can strip out the Apple "chrome" look and make it look like a real Windows app. Probably not even on their list though.

Wait, Windows gets a nice looking standalone iCloud Password app and on the Mac we are stuck with the dated Keychain app that hasn't changed in 15 years?

Funny, was in win10 today, the apple control panel said all my apple software was up to date.

Short while back I looked into the whole photo sharing via icloud. Oddly enough there seems to be an identically named "photos" winblowz app. THAT seems to be able to access my stuff BUT there was a lot of extraneous stuff. It had the full sized versions of all the stuff that I had cropped... whereas Photos on Mac only shows the cropped version. OPn Mac, IO have no access to those, but on winblowz I do. VERY weird.

Gets weirder... there seem to be many copies of stuff I shot on my phone. If I am not mistaken, in HDR mode on the phone, it does take multiple shots then blends them for the best overall. I THINK I am seeing ALL of said images in win10, but not on my Mac.

What's up with that?

Apple today introduced a major update to iCloud for Windows, bringing the version number for the software to 13. Apple has added support for Apple ProRes videos and Apple ProRAW photos, so files in these formats can now be accessed from Windows PCs via iCloud.

All participants of an iCloud Drive shared file or folder are now also able to add or remove people, and Apple has introduced support for generating strong passwords using the iCloud Passwords app.

Apple debuted the new iCloud Keychain password manager app back in August, allowing Windows users to access their iCloud Keychain passwords for cross-device functionality. With strong password support, Windows users can access the same password generating technology available for Safari on iOS devices and Macs.

According to Apple's support document for the update, iCloud for Windows 13 also addresses several security vulnerabilities.

iCloud for Windows can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store.

This is funny.

A previous release article:

iCloud 12.5 for Windows makes sense.

I think the title in this article is just off.

But I love the people who thought 13 would be a bad version number. Who posted from an iPhone 11 with iOS 13 or a new iPhone 13 with iOS 15, or who next year will rave about macOS 13 …

They’re just names.

Although my money is on macOS 13 Death Valley!

Was just about to comment this.

Where is the Windows iTunes update???!
Trash application at the moment
Windows iTunes has been trash for a few years now.
Apple has essentially abandoned it for the Macs, leaving only the Windows version.
Only reason I'm using it is to tag files esp. for audiobooks. Love the 'remember position' feature which isn't found in many other iTunes alternative software, which is very important for audiobooks. Don't want to start over from the beginning every time you exit then return to the files.

The main reason for not switching over is just that.. many business software is still based in Windows and some in Unix, or whatever version there of. None of those I know and use have a Mac version. Don't care about games just business applications.

This may also create some kind of misunderstanding.

iCloud is known first as a service, not a front-end client. “iCloud v13” sounds like the service has gone through 12 iterations, at least to people who are not familiar with cloud services.

So now Photo Stream is gone from iCloud for Windows. That sucks cause I don't use iCloud photos. All my recent photos from Photo Stream on my laptop is gone. Would have been nice to have this mentioned in the article.

Yeah, they cut down on many options in the control panel. The only things there now are iCloud Photos and Shared Albums.

I now have almost 13k+ items “pending” (at the time of this writing) for iCloud Photos. This better not bone my camera roll.

Edit: It finished, and it appears that everything now lives in iCloud itself, unless you open an image.

I’ll have to wait til tomorrow to test and see if you can still upload. Unless someone else wants to try saving a picture to just “iCloud Photos” and tell us if it makes it to iCloud or not.”
