I slogged through a bunch of early pages - and amid all of the complaints about bricking, I haven't seen any mention of using the unlock screen w/out touch Id. My iPad Air 1 doesn't have it - and having to press the home button usually results in Siri popping up.
I SO wish Apple left "swipe to unlock" alone on the non-touch Id devices.

I disable Siri, and much of everything else when the device it locked. It might not work for everyone, but it will help with that aspect.

The magnetic trigger in a cover or case will also take care of the need for a first press to unlock, but again, not for everyone.

Given that horizontal swipes are the big navigational thing now, I doubt Swipe to Unlock will ever come back, even as a preference.

Is there any way to have the messages app default to keeping handwritten messages to bypass the need to hit "keep" for anything I want to maintain?

Couldn't see anything in the Messages settings.

Great. Now everyone can see my last opened apps, news feed and events if they swipe right on my phone. How's this not a bad idea privacy-wise?

That's a horrible hole in privacy, not to mention that anyone can reply to your text messages, even on whatsapp, what a horrible thing.

Still haven't seen the notification for update on my iPhone or iPad...I guess they don't want me to have iOS 10...

I don't understand why people want to do so much from a lock screen. If you can perform functions/tasks from your lock screen, doesn't that completely defeat the purpose of a lock screen? If you lose your phone or have it stolen, would you want that person to be able to respond to your text messages?! No, absolutely not! I just don't get it.

exactly! i don't want to do anything from the lock screen except open the camera app. that's it!

Well, all of these things are configurable basically and can be disabled from the lock screen. Pretty much the same as they were in iOS 9. So nothing new really either.

Question to the experts: I am updating from iOS 9 on an iPhone 6. So I have no 3D Touch. With iOS 9 I could reply to messages directly from the notification by pulling it down. Is this no longer possible?? Have they seriously replaced this by 3D Touch ONLY?

well, it's not my cup of tea.
unlocking now takes longer: press the button. wait a second. press the button again. (optional: enter passcode because touch i'd didn't work) oh, all those lost second.
- new notification screen: more space between widgets = less screen estate = less info, more time spent on scrolling around
- home app: very convoluted & half-baked.

everything got slightly more complex and needs more previous knowledge by the user to use it. again. feels like the road to redmont.

Oh wow!! Look at that speed!! It really makes the 6s fly! :D:D
However does anybody knows why the system sounds are so low (locking sound, keyboard typing effect, etc)?

Music - where are my ratings and likes, where are the lyrics. (tap on cover) ?
[doublepost=1473848759][/doublepost]iOS10 Timer - still not possible cooking eggs o_O (still missing seconds ....)

Has anyone noticed the little tweak to mostly-white wallpapers? They are now shaded a little bit so that you can better see folders and white icons.

Sure, as I have always done, but that is not the point I was making.

There is no need for that. You can simply press the home button and wait a millisecond and it will unlock and take you to the home page all in one step and quickly. No need to press twice and wait. However as C DM mentioned there is also a rest finger option if you don't want to actually press the home button down. The new process is not an oversight but a feature to allow to unlock the lock screen to respond to the items there without going into the home screen.

I'm at a loss for where you feel anyone on this forum is the general public in the first place. Second I simply said if everyone waits for everyone else to load it how do we get past that initial "someone else needs to update?" It's a logical question. Not a single person I know personally had any issue with the update today. This forum is extremely vocal when it comes to complaints but rarely vocal when things go right. Couple that with this being a tiny fraction of a percent of apples customers it's impossible to even begin to grasp the situation past those that post here.
There are a lot of laymen on these forums who look for advice that you or I may think is common knowledge. This website has millions of visitors. As people with a greater level of technical knowledge, it's up to us to be the responsible ones. As for your logic, there will always be people who say "To hell with it" and upgrade regardless of what others say. Those who are cautious and unsure of their technical abilities are the ones likely to speak up about being cautious in the first place. No need to push them. Furthermore, is technical users will always be there to test early as well. No reason to push people off a bridge immediately following launch, potentially ruining their day with a broken device that we can't fix for them and they can't fix themselves until they make it back to a computer and do some research. If you've ever worked in IT, you have to assume some level of responsibility for those you assist. Blanket statements never end well.

That's the weakest argument I've ever heard on here, and that's saying something.
You're rubber and I'm glue? What is this, preschool? "Let'a just write the same thing again and it will be such a witty response!" You're an intensely brilliant commenter, I'll give you that. Must have taken you hours to come up with a retort of this caliber. I salute your intellectual prowess and look forward to our future encounters. You are unequivocally a force to be reckoned with. Good day.

The update to iMessage seems huge.

I couldn't grasp the essence of it despite watching the keynote multiple times, but now that I have played with some messaging apps for a while, the potential is there. Being able to create a to-do list or a quick poll or insert a text snippet from Drafts while staying within the app is a huge convenience, and saves me the trouble of having to hop into another app and do the whole copy and paste dance.

I'm still at a loss that you think I am pushing someone. Have you bothered to actually read and comprehend my original comment? Bro, give it a rest. I questioned the logic of someone saying nobody should update until others update. Are you not able to understand what point I was making?

No need to reply, I wont be posting back on this one, tired of beating this horse.

How can you not just configure the phone appropriate to your needs? It's a choice, and an easily made one.

Gee, and they couldn't do that in iOS 9? Oh, wait, they could, unless you turned it off.

I guess I missed Apple removing that toggle in iOS 10.

Oh, wait... they didn't.

Hey! Question for Reminders app users out there. After updating to iOS10, do you experience the issue, that you can't see items that are older than 1 year?
