I'm still on an iPhone 5 - I hate the new lock screen.
It is a horror to use. But you should have seen it in beta. Having to constantly hammer the Home button in the hope that the most recent press would log you into the phone. I usually find Apple updates to be useful and improving. Really hasn't been the case with iOS10. I think the only app/feature to see an improvement is the messaging app!

That is seriously awful design. Awful. How would anyone know that? Why remove buttons that work and everyone recognizes.
They're courageous now, apparently. The new music app is certainly courageous! (Eww)

Yeah, I just figured that out. Crazy that you would need a newer phone for that feature. I guess it needs the M9 so that the battery doesn't drain while it monitors proximity? Raise to Wake works with the first generation Apple Watch, so does that have an M9?
It's a way of forcing people to upgrade hidden behind smart words about motion coprocessor. Planned obsolescence. They also didn't add long press actions to control center buttons although it would cost nothing and no coprocessor is required for that.

Well, I updated iPhone 6 and wife's iPhone 6 Plus, and I see that on both iPhones Touch ID doesnt work as good, also, often even if it recognizes fingerprint it still asks to press home button to unlock!

Apple! Fix Touch ID on older iPhones 6 and bring back its speed!

Are the Message apps working for anyone else? All of the installed apps I have that say they have a Message app component aren't working. Giphy, Buzzfeed, Drafts are the ones I've been testing with so far

The press to unlock is by design. If you want to use the old touch to unlock its available under accessibility.

I have no speed changes in using it either way on my 6s or my partners 6.

I'm not liking it much either. Having to press the home button again to unlock is annoying.

What am I missing? iP6s+, phone is asleep, I still just press the home button and TouchID logs me in. Where's the second button press supposed to come in?

What part are you struggling with? I can still go into iMessages and use it like I did before.

How do you turn off the g-d*mned header at the top of every conversation with the contact pic? The control that allows you to turn them off in the messages list is still there, thankfully, but if there's a control that lets you turn this idiocy off, I don't see where it is.

What's the point of it anyway? You're already in a conversation with this person, you don't remember what they look like? It's a waste of screen real-estate.

The "lift to wake" thing only working on the 6S or newer reminds me of the time someone proved Siri could run on an iPhone 4.

it 4 the kardashian gen u don't cnt.

This update is really completely useless for me. I don't have 3-D touch on my phone so I don't benefit from any of those changes I don't use iCloud, Idon't use Apple Maps because transit doesn't work in my location and it cannot find half the stores where I live and I'm not 10 years old so I don't see the point in all these stupid Messages additions.

In fact the new messages App Store is just sad and a sad reflection on humanity.

I wish they had spent more of their efforts actually improving things like Siri and most importantly doing so without it trying to give smart answers back when you give it an order and it misunderstands for the 50th time.

Sierra is looking to be a similar waste of time for getting actual work done...

I agree. Messages App Store is a joke. They've cluttered a clean professional messages app with a bunch of crap stickers / effects.

Surely they could have created A standalone fun app for teens? Which is integrated into iMessages

Well, not sure what you mean, I was saying that phone (s) sometimes asks me to click home button once more, even though it recognised my fingerprint and should go to home screen.

I really hate the new lock screen. I can't just touch ID to unlock. I have to use touch ID AND press the home button??! annoying

This! I thought I'm the only one with this issue here.

You can go in to the accessibility settings and change that you don't have to press the home button and just rest your finger.
I don't see such setting, besides sometimes phone unlocks fine.

Go to settings/general/accessibility/home button there is an option there to keep the finger without pressing again. Thank god, because I found that double click really annoying!

THANK YOU! it worked!

Is there a way to disable swipe to left (open camera) on lock screen?

Doesn't look like it.

What you said... who the hell thought that was a good idea?

amazing how many people repeat what I wrote earlier. An incredibly tacky and terrible update.
I'm actually thinking canceling any iPhone orders and going Google Pixel.
So sick of that stupidity. Balloons, BS etc. What happened to this company? Seriously?
