it improves the reliability of syncing mail, contacts, and notes with Exchange accounts

Since this is used by a lot of people, do we know what improvements?

Some of my family members have Exchange Online with tens of thousands of messages in their Inbox (default server policy moves anything older than 2 years to the Online Archive store).

For a long while now, these members' iOS Mail has been slow to launch. It takes seconds to open and load their Inbox. And they always upgrade to the latest iPhone.

Try leaving your iPhone in airplane mode overnight.

I have a job that requires my availability by phone 24/7, so that is not an option. It’s not like it is a good option anyway, as that makes my phone less than what it was. Besides, my phone used to drop 5%, at worst, overnight. Most nights, it doesn’t have a problem. It is by far the most perplexing issue I’ve ever had with a phone.

Not seeing the update, on both of my iPhones...?

Installing now, took about 10 minutes after 12 to show up.
My phone takes a while to open each app on the first attempt, but after that they seem to open up quickly. I guess I'll go thru my entire list and open them

I know the thread well! Fingers crossed that the random battery drain issue goes away for me. Last night my phone dropped from 100% to 15%, and battery report had no app usage at all.
My iPhone 6s was doing the same and nothing showing in the battery report but the phone felt warm all the time. Just updated and the phone already feels cooler!

I see so because ‘yours’ is fine everyone else with problems must be stupid? Judging by your insult. Typical MO response on this site to those reporting problems.
Is that really a typical response? Or this more of a generalization?

15 updates in less then a year and I bet Apples buggiest software ever will still be full of bugs...

It doesn’t seem to mention anything about battery life?.. oh well maybe in iOS 12..

Absolutely, taking in consideration your first post... :)

Ive noticed this too but what I found was causing the slowdown was all of my photos were “restoring”. Yours is probably done now but after an update like this go into photos then albums and scroll to the bottom and you’ll see a message that says “restoring”. After that completed my speed was back to normal. Happened when I updated it 11.4 too.

hopefully this fixes the wifi issue with my iphone x. im still on 10.3.3 on my ip6 and the wifi is working fine but not with the X on ios 11. this is kinda dumb actually.

also, i noticed the push is not really a push in the ios stock mail app. it always push mail slower than gmail's inbox but i want to switch back to stock mail because inbox got stupid and removed the drag down / up to collapse the email so i can't navigate it with one hand anymore.

Hope so. Just opened the App Store to check for updates and it took about 10 seconds or more to open and display. :(

I’ve updated as well last night and everything seems to be going smooth as butter.

There really hasn't been push support for (free) Gmail for quite some time in the native iOS Mail app.

This is a Google limitation, not the Mail app.

The battery drain issue is inherent flaw of iOS 11 and 12 supposedly has fixed it.

This is absolute misinformation. I’m on iOS 11.4 and been constantly using the phone for over an hour. Lost 5% battery. That’s more than awesome if you ask me.

Battery life on my 7 128 is feeling great.

Finally my phone appears to be stable again (after the brief nirvana that was 11.3 - it was terrible on all prior versions of 11).

I notice that when I hook the phone up to my carplay, it gives me the message to unlock before it will work. I guess that means I need to at least look at my phone before I get into the car in the morning... Although, I use my phone as my alarm and I wake up less than an hour before I leave in the morning... But if I never actually unlock it, it would be blocked. Interesting...
I have CarPlay as well, but I'm not experiencing the issue you've metioned. Have you tried rebooting your phone after the update?

It is my observation from when people on this site complain about the bugs in iOS 11, the well reported endless bugs, you get the typical response of you must be stupid and making it all up because ‘mine’ is fine.

It is like an arrogant person telling you their is nothing wrong with your car, even if it’s wheels had fallen off! Because their car was perfectly fine...

It’s quite true on the other side as well. People claim every car on the planet is faulty just because their car had an issue.

I've not seen that message again. I will try to replicate it another morning. I'll not actually unlock my phone and see what it does.
