I don’t have an 8 Plus. Why do I have to install it? Would be great if Apple gave us an options instead of constantly pestering with updates.

You know that you don't have to install every update when it comes out, nor do you have to be "pestered" by them, right?

If you ignore updates you'll get an occasional update is available dialog with the option to install it overnight when you're asleep. It doesn't have to bother you at all.

Huh. I wonder what's holding up 12.4. I was expecting THAT today! :)
iOS 12.4 is still in early betas (I think the 2nd or 3rd beta is the current one) so we’re likely still 3-4 weeks away from the final version since Apple usually does a total 5-6 betas before a final release.

You won’t see today’s update if you don’t have an iphone 8 plus, today’s update is exclusively for the iPhone 8 plus.

I used to have an iPhone 8 Plus. I hated that I couldn’t prevent the home screen from rotating without globally disabling screen rotation. I didn’t like that there was no image stabilization in telephoto mode either. Touch ID would fail anytime there was the tiniest bit of water, like from rain drops or after washing my hands. Moving to an iPhone X was a big upgrade, and the swipe UI is vastly better than hitting a home button constantly.

Correct, but it doesn’t always work and the updates don’t always install automatically. At least for me, they never do. Every time I get the notification of an update available, which usually means the installer file was already downloaded to my device, and let it auto install, I always wake up next morning to find a message on the lock screen saying the update was not installed. Because of that, now I still choose the overnight install option when I get the notification but then I start the installation manually in the night before I go to sleep. Only then do I wake up to an updated device the following morning.

Completely agree, how many times do you see footage on the news which would be 1000 times better if only they had turned the phone to landscape?
Yes, 100% agree. Folks do not watch a vertical TV, vertical computer screen, vertical movie theater screen. Why then using their phones for videos are they compelled to use portrait (vertical) mode for video, it is called portrait for a reason. Also, video in portrait mode the left and right of the video scene is cut off.

Almost middle of June & we're at 12.3.2 and it's approaching last, best & most stable version. I think I'll wait until June 2020 before trying out iOS 13.

It may also include other unspecified security fixes and bug fixes for other devices and does appear to be available for other iPhones and iPads as well as the iPhone 8 Plus.
It’s not available for other devices, it’s exclusive for iPhone 8 Plus. I have an iphone XS and iPad Pro 10.5” and both still show iOS 12.3.1 as up to date.

You’re kidding, right? iOS 12 has been good all the way. Obviously, there have been a few minor things that needed updating but, overall, it’s been very smooth...at least on my four devices....and those of my friends and colleagues.

Hope it fixes Messages app being unable to attach photos from My Photo Stream.
Nothing to fix there, that is already possible. All you have to do is tap on the photos icon wihin the imessages app list and then tap on ‘all photos’ on the top right to see all your albums including photo stream. See images attached.

That's a feature, not a bug. haha!
No it’s not standard behavior not to be able to access photo stream from within imessages. It is indeed possible to access photo stream or any other album in photos from imessages and I already showed how in my previous post. If anyone can’t then maybe it is a bug specific to that device or they’re not doing it the right way.

No it’s not a feature. It is indeed possible to access photo stream or any other album in photos from imessages, see my previous post for how, and if he can’t then maybe he does have a bug.

It’s not working for me, it’s a bug. I know how to attach photos. It was working OK previous to 12.3.

On iPad you can still drag and drop from the Photos app OK, but it’s inconvenient.

I’ve tried signing out and back in to iCloud with no luck.

I’ve logged it as a bug with Apple today.

I just tested and you are correct. For some reason the photo does not get attached. It is definitely a software bug.

Don’t you understand anonymous people on the internet know more about what’s happening on your phone than you do?

Not showing on non iPhone 8 devices. The article should have been clearer to indicate this will not show on other devices. It was poorly written
It does say today’s update is limited to iphone 8 plus and not available for other devices. Read the second paragraph again.

"Why should I have to read the article more closely??? "
Not you, he’s addressing someone else who didn’t happen to notice that the article says today’s update is only available for the iphone 8 plus and not for other devices.

The iPhone image used is not iPhone 8 Plus.
I think that was because it wasn’t apparent at first that the update would show up only on the iphone 8 plus, it became clear only upon release of the said update.

Landscape videos are a paradigm caused by the traditional TV and movie theater viewing. However, in reality, we hold our phones in portrait orientation. I mean a serious content creator would see this as a new opportunity to have content designed for the most common screen that people see on a daily basis. Snapchat and the likes, YouTube, and IGTV all are paving the way. In fact, iOS 13 photos app will allow you to change the orientation of a video.

We don’t limit photos to just landscape orientation. I don’t see why we should limit videos.

Just my 2 cents :)

I watch most YouTube content on my TV or computer. It's really cumbersome to turn my TV on the side for portrait video, where as the phone is easy to turn to landscape. I know which I prefer
