@MacRumors your image is a bit misleading for readers who may be expecting updates for the X, Xr, Xs, Xs Max devices
I’d say this is a bit debatable, because I have accidentally swiped away from active gaming sessions in landscape mode, while I don’t need to worry about this at all on an iPhone 6/6s/7/8.and the swipe UI is vastly better than hitting a home button constantly.
I bet Apple knows a lot more about you than you do, so goes google Facebook Microsoft Amazon. You name it.Don’t you understand anonymous people on the internet know more about what’s happening on your phone than you do?
Too many dumb-asses who only shoot vertical videosCompletely agree, how many times do you see footage on the news which would be 1000 times better if only they had turned the phone to landscape?
I wish there was a notification that would tell people if they’re filming in portrait to change to landscape. I hate vertical videos with the power of a thousand suns.I watch most YouTube content on my TV or computer. It's really cumbersome to turn my TV on the side for portrait video, where as the phone is easy to turn to landscape. I know which I prefer

And to be fair, not covering the message might still be ok for him if nothing personal is within the screenshot.
Landscape videos are a paradigm caused by the traditional TV and movie theater viewing. However, in reality, we hold our phones in portrait orientation. I mean a serious content creator would see this as a new opportunity to have content designed for the most common screen that people see on a daily basis. Snapchat and the likes, YouTube, and IGTV all are paving the way. In fact, iOS 13 photos app will allow you to change the orientation of a video.
We don’t limit photos to just landscape orientation. I don’t see why we should limit videos.
Just my 2 cents![]()
Behavioral changes are not necessarily dumb just because you don’t like it.Funny the amount of people that hold phones vertically to film videos. You would almost think people are dumb......
Even in the US, people are already spending more time on their smartphone screens than TV. In emerging markets, more people own a smartphone than TVs. A smart content creator would see portrait videos as an opportunity for new way of expression instead of ridiculing others. It’s not so much about the movie theaters it’s about the alignment of our eyes and our better vision in the horizontal space. The only reason you watch and film content on a phone vertically is because the device is easier to hold in this position not because cinema dictated it.
That’s the thing. Nobody ever complained about photos in portrait orientation. In fact, thanks to digital photography, photos are even free from aspect ratios as we can simply crop photos to any aspect ratio we want. Why videos must be limited to a single orientation? Oh because of the devices showing it, ie TVs. But that’s changing as well. In fact, standard 16:9 aspect ration is also being challenged with 19:9 and 20:1 aspect ratios due to taller phones.Too many dumb-asses who only shoot vertical photos
I am sorry. My bad. What are you whining about? I never said I know anything about his phone and Who said anything about apple? You think apple knows what his phone is doing? Read the posts, I was referring to the other person insinuating he had no bug. I was being sarcastic.
I bet he knows far more about his phone (bugs) than you or any other fanboi. WTF does google, facebook, microsoft or amazon have to do with what I posted? Seriously, are you drunk?

Today, people spent more time on their smartphone screen vs TVs. In emerging markets, there are more smartphone ownership than TV. For many, the portrait orientation of a phone is their first interaction with a monitor, and thus portrait looks normal for them. IGTV is embracing vertical orientation, even YouTube does as well. A smart content creator would see this as an opportunity instead of telling others dumb.

Yeah, keep spewing insults. Everybody not doing the same thing as you are stupid. Uh huh. What a bunch pf drivel. Photos in portrait is FAR different than videos in portrait. Videos in portrait is just plain stupid no matter how much you stamp your feet. It has nothing whatsoever to do with whether I like it or not. Jeez. Talk about spewing ridiculous stuff.
The iOS 12.3.2 update is available on all eligible devices over-the-air in the Settings app. To access the update, go to Settings > General > Software Update. As with all iOS updates, iOS 12.3.2 is free to download, but it may take some time for iOS 12.3.2 to propagate to all iOS users. Today's update is limited to the iPhone 8 Plus and it is not available on other devices.
"Why do I have to read articles, when I can just complain about the headline?"read the article more closelyyou'll be pleasantly surprised
Easy. This update is for iPhone 8 Plus only. And your iPhone 6 (and 5s, I assume) will receive iOS 12.4 when it arrives. Is this the way Apple starts to kill support for older devices?
I still have not received the iOS 12.3.2 update on my iPhone 5 and 6

One is, indeed, holding it wrongYeah. Or even better send a small electric shock every time someone tries to shoot a video in portrait mode.

Yeah, my bad for not thinking thru, but the rotational option means it'll make it kinda less bad!I don’t think rotating a portrait video will solve this. The video will just appear sideways, right?

And yet nobody has ever brought up this argument against portrait photography.
Like, yes, obviously our eyes are aligned to see horizontally. Nobody is denying that. But more factors are involved.
I think there's a difference between photos and videos when it comes to this. A still image isn't in the same way representative of our field of view in the same way a movie is and can be of different proportions depending on the scene.
Looking at an old video recording that's shot in 4:3 aspect ration feels wrong compared to a wider aspect ratio. But maybe that's just about what we are used to? I at least have a hard time getting used to videos shot vertically.
