Hopefully, iOS 14.8 fixes the 5G cellular connectivity issue I occasionally get with iOS 14.7.1. Will not upgrade to iOS 15 until iOS 15.0.1 (let the early users take the slings and arrows of bugs first).

Guess only bug fixes since file manager, 'limit to 60fps' which is more like 15fps, etc. still broken.

can they PLEASE fix screen time?? it switches off on my kids devices often and randomly. it has never worked reliably.

I was really hoping there will be iOS 12.5.5 release and that's it but it seems that like macOS 10.14.6 July 2021 Update there will be no more updates and iOS 12.5.4 is the last and has reached end of support...

Seems that the minimum supported version for apps will now be at least iOS 13.x

iOS 14.x is the go to version now if you prefer stability over bleeding edge features/updates... Just like iOS 12.x before...

Apple today released iOS 14.8, marking the eighth major update to the iOS operating system that came out in September 2020. iOS 14.8 comes two months after the release of iOS 14.7, an update that introduced MagSafe Battery Pack support.

The iOS 14.8 update can be downloaded for free and the software is available on all eligible devices over-the-air in the Settings app. To access the new software, go to Settings > General > Software Update. Apple has also released a new version if iPadOS 14.

According to Apple's release notes, iOS 14.8 is a security-focused update that is recommended for all users. Apple's security support document outlines two major fixes that have been implemented for issues that Apple says may have been actively exploited.

There is a CoreGraphics bug that could allow a maliciously crafted PDF to lead to arbitrary code execution, as well as a WebKit vulnerability that could allow maliciously crafted web content to execute code.

iOS 14.8 could one of the final updates to the iOS 14 operating system as we're expecting the iOS 15 update to be released in just a couple of weeks, but Apple has said that it plans to allow people to keep using iOS 14 if they don't want to upgrade to iOS 15. For that reason, iOS 14 may continue to get small security updates over time, but new features will likely be limited to iOS 15.

Update 10:16 a.m.: Apple has also released watchOS 7.6.2 with similar security fixes for Apple Watch Series 3 and later.

Not seeing 7.6.2 for the AW.

Big Sur 11.6 is also out. Looking at the security content page, it sounds like this may possibly fix the Pegasus issue?
There is no single Pegasus issue. NSO has an arsenal of multiple exploits that they can use to infiltrate devices and keep developing or buying new ones that they can deploy if existing vulnerabilities get fixed. There will be an arms race as long as these awful companies are allowed to do their dirty business.

For folks who want to stay away from the new CSAM tools Apple announced then put on hold.
Perhaps they meant it was on hold until today. I'm not downloading 14.8 until it's checked that the file or photo scanning isn't included in this one. Yes, I know they said it wouldn't be. No, I don't trust them.

What’s the point when apple is dropping iOS 15 this week
Ok I'm somewhat kate to the oarty so ithers might allready have said this, but in case they haven't . Apple cares somewhat about securety so if yhere is a known spyware running arround they patch it ASAP even if a new major release is just days away, because thay know a certain subset of their users delay a najut update somewhat. Alkso didb 't 15.0 ( IOS/tvos/Ipados) leave some 14 devices behind , appke probably wants to cover them as well.

You do realize that they put the hash database in iOS 14.3?
i’m assuming this update removed it and freed up some more space since it has been postponed.

Is there devices that are stuck on iOS 13?

It seems no more security updates for iOS 12.
Are you stuck on a device that cab't go beyond 12.x, I know it sucks but apple can't have evry release in extended support forever, it's just not economical. I don 't know enugh about pegasus, it might be that it exploited a bug that was only presebt the the newer os releases, but I won't soeculate on that, if som more informed individual cares to fill in the p,anks I'm shotpre I will not be the only one in this thraed tharpt grows a little more informed, anyway on my on behalf thank you in advance

Question, how urgent do I need to download this update? From my understanding, a PDF download is what triggers this exploit? So if I have not downloaded and opened a PDF file from a dodgy website, I should be fine, is that how it works?

Im just confused because I have only been using my phone to visit social media, firefox, and a few trusted apps, and nothing else.

I have Verizon top unlimited plan and I am currently in an area with 5G UW but I am unable to do the iOS update over 5G on the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Does it work for Verizon? I have all the settings set appropriately.
