It only delete photos you've saved from messages, and only when you do a complete restore from iCloud afterwards.
iPhone 12 Pro here. I have iCloud turned off and when I save a photo from iMessage to my camera roll, the photo will delete itself within hours after I delete the message. So until there is a fix, I’ll save all of my messages. Crazy, unfortunate bug.

I just tried updating my new iPad Mini 6 and it’s been stuck on the apple screen for over two hours. I tried a hard reset (volume buttons and then hold down lower) and it still gets stuck on the apple screen on reboot. Grrrrr.
My 2015 iPad Pro was stuck on the Apple logo longer than usual with this update around 11pm last night. Status bar not moving, few restarts..again stuck logo for 6-7 minutes. But finally finished. Took much much longer than normal.

I haven't updated this 13PM yet, honestly this phone has been working fine for me, even the Apple watch face mask unlock works, 95% of the time (knock on wood) I just fear messing with it.

I must have selected the wrong icon. Seems I am on Apple's beta testing program. Anyway to unselect it? (sarcasm)

How stupid, a whole iOS update for all devices and most people I know (me included) dont even use an Apple watch.
It fixes another bug not related to apple watch: some users with tens of GB free -I included- got a false ‘iphone storage almost full’ notification in settings upon updating to iOS 15. The notification did nothing when tapped and wouldn’t go away. iOS 15.0.1 removes it. They still have to fix a related bug: iOS 15.0.1 still displays incorrectly the amount of used and free iphone storage space.

Many thanks! I tried that. I can see the downloaded update. I can select Delete. I am promoted to confirm. I do so. Nothing happens. Download remains. iPad remains in the same situation. Oh well.

Thanks Apple

Hmm. Yeah, that‘s usually the last thing you can try.

Anyone else still having issues unlocking with mask on while having an Apple Watch? mine still isn't working post update 15.0.1.

When you say it doesn’t work, what do you mean? Are you able to toggle the switch in faceid & passcode settings int he settings app? Is it already turned on, but it won’t unlock via your watch?

This one finally fixed the battery drain on my 11 Pro Max and the weird zoom in BUG I had on the iPad Pro

Same here. iPhone fine, iPad Pro 9.7 fine, iPad Pro 10.5 "verifying" or "installing" for hours. Reset network settings, reset iPad, no joy. It was fine before this
Heres what I did to get it to work: Plug iPad into your Mac or MBPro....(turn off synch if you wish)...in Finder (or iTunes) initiate the upgrade. Will take some time but will work. This is what the 2nd tier Apple Tech support person told me to try. Here are the docs she sent:
Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with the Finder and
Hope this helps.

You may need to go into the storage settings and delete the download. Then reboot and try again.
Cmaier...I've gotten mine to work but JFMInfo: where are 'storage settings' to delete a non-working update? (if I worded this correctly...). Thanks...

Why doesn't my Settings app show the badge notification telling me there's an iOS update available until after I go manually check if there's one available by going to Settings > General > Software Update?

Is there a way to make this badge (see below) show up automatically when the iOS update becomes available?

Maybe not the very second it happens, but this update has been available for over twelve hours, and the only reason I found out was because I decided to visit macrumors.com.

If nothing else is available, I guess the closest I'll come to being notified that an iOS update is available will have to be to ask Twitter to notify me every time MacRumors tweets something.

I've noticed over the years that its sometimes 'hit-or miss'. Works about 90% of the time .....

Tried:

Deleting the 15.0.1 update from iPad Storage: unsuccessful
Applying the update from my iMac MacOS Finder via Lightning cable: Unsuccessful
Signing up for the beta, attempting to install 15.1 Public Beta 2: Unsuccessful
Reverting back to non-beta, and trying all the above again: unsuccessful

...and any number of resets, reboots and so on. I have over 100GB free on the iPad. I thought installing from my iMac would work - it took an hour or so to back up the 100+ GB, and then failed with "unknown error". I tried this 3 times.

It is now 16 hours since I foolishly hit "Install" on this minor 15.0.1 update. I have just kicked off a full re-install of iPad OS. It will be several more hours before this is complete and my iPad + data + settings returned.

Be careful out there.
After updating to 15.0.1 the Compass app on my IPhone 11 Pro does not work. Frozen pointing to North. Apple Support has no solution.

Mine unlocked like crazy, until I installed the update.

iPhone 11 Pro Max, and AW 4. It unlocked every time I raised my arm. Every time I raised my iPhone. It got to be ridiculous. Post update, now it has seemed to revert back to the 'early days', when it did it when it was damned ready to, and not before. I have had to enter the numbers into the iPhone more now than before. *shrug* The pendulum swings from one extreme to another...

Actually I was still on 15.0.

So now I'm totally mystified as to what broke it, and why it's stopped being so helpful. Weird... I give up. Can I go back to 1998? It seemed all so much easier back then.

So, update, 15.0.1 fixed the mask unlock from the watch....infact, it works even better now than it did before.

I wonder what's broken now... 🙄
I'm not getting badge or sound alerts for iMessage from only a few people, and all of my iCloud mail is being marked as read before I even open the Mail app. I'm thinking the iMessage messages are being marked as read immediately, too. It would have the same impact. I know it's not the app itself because I've tried in the Stock Mail App, Spark, Edison Mail, the Gmail app, and Airmail. All of my other accounts are fine across the board but my iCloud Mail has been consistently marked as read as soon as it's delivered. I've checked notification settings on my iPhone, iPad, and my MBP. I've even restored my iPhone & Apple Watch via the IPSW file in Finder. No change.

Jumping on the bandwagon with iOS 15 being the buggiest I can remember, on both my iPhone and iPad. Mainly UI glitches but it’s been causing a lot of issues with 3rd party apps as well.

Though I do remember iOS 10 being pretty shaky as well.
iOS 13 was a dumpster fire

My bad, the first article I read about it only said it happened if during a restore. You could forward the photos to your own text message, then you would only have one thread (to and from yourself) that you would have to save until the bug is fixed.
