Well, same pattern as every other update for the last few years:
- Install update, then authenticate myself to get back into my iPhone (or iPad)
- Get presented with a screen saying the OS has been updated
- Get asked if I want to use Siri (yes, I've been using Siri for years)
- Get presented with a screen showing how I can use the Home button on my iPhone 8 / iPad Air 3 to activate Siri
- Go into Settings > Siri & Search, and TURN Listen for "Hey Siri" BACK OFF.
I said I wanted to use Siri and I do.
When I activate it by holding down the Home button. Why does Apple insist on turning "Listen for Hey Siri" back on? I didn't ask for that and I didn't have it on before. You're not being helpful, Apple.
When I'm at home, my HomePods listen for "Hey Siri", and they're the only ones I want answering those requests - I don't need multiple devices trying to decide which is closest / who should handle the response. If I want Siri on any other device, I know which button to push - literally. And, in particular, when I'm out and about, I do
NOT want my iPhone / iPad / AirPods listening to the whole world trying to see if someone (maybe me or maybe someone else) said, "Hey Siri".
Yes, I can work around this (as above). I shouldn't have to. They don't appear to wipe out any of my other settings, why do they keep resetting this one?
