Apple today released iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6, the sixth major updates to the iOS and iPadOS 15 operating systems that were initially released in September 2021. iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 come around two months after the launch of iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5.

The iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 updates can be downloaded for free and the software is available on all eligible devices over-the-air in the Settings app. To access the new software, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

As Apple is wrapping up development on the iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 operating systems, iOS 15.6 is minor in scale and introduces a handful of new features and bug fixes.

The update includes an option to restart, pause, rewind, and fast-forward a live sports game that's in progress, plus it addresses an issue that could cause the Settings app to continue to display that device storage is full even when it's not.

Apple's full release notes for the update are below. It's possible that iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 will be some of the last updates to the iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 operating systems as Apple is now focusing on iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 updates that are set to launch this fall.

will this fix netflix 4k dolby atmos stuttering?

One step closer to a bright new horizon and iOS 16, hoping that it will forever vanquish the horrible night of iOS 15.
Last few Public betas introduced bug where ignore left behind for my items at home forgets this location. So when I go out, now I get reminders for things that normally don’t leave house.

Bug reported a month ago but not fixed.
Lets be positive: Apple has everything magically cleaned up for iOS 16 release.

Bwahahahahaahahahahahaha ROFL 🤣

Will this solve stuttering issues with Netflix Dolby Atmos 4k? I am sending box back to Apple and will use new roku 4 K

Debating if I should do a clean install on my devices, or if clean instals even matters nowadays.
I did a DFU restore NEW on my 13 mini a few weeks ago on the current (until today) iOS 15 version. It did not address the bug issues (Podcasts setting resetting), but it did give me some extra battery life running mostly stock iOS with all the bells and whistles settings on (Siri, locations, etc.)

It’s a mostly solid experience, and I would consider doing it before iOS 16 if you wanted to give a try. I would never test something like that on a brand new iOS Version, though I’ve read some people do it every year!

Maybe there’s a thread on it somewhere….. that would be an interesting read.

It might be premature, but I’m no longer seeing 5G UW on my phone after updating. It literally displayed it just before I connected to wifi to update and then would only go to 5G after it updated. I’m covered pretty well with UW, and it has yet to reappear even after restarting and moving to a different area.

I wonder whether we will see 15.x.y security updates for another two years or so for those devices unable to go to 16. I hope so as we are in a similar situation as with iOS 12 where they stopped selling the then actual iPod just a few months bevore the release of 13 and then they continued to provide security support for about another two years for all 12-only devices. Would give my 6s some further time as a secondary device for sports and beach…

So just updated my iPad fourth generation and have no clicking sound when using camera, whether Live is on or off. Camera settings are same on my also updated iPhone SE 2020 and it clicks with Live off. All other sounds on iPad work. Could this be caused by the update? It was loud before update.
So sound IS playing with Live off but even at maximum volume the only was to hear it is by putting speaker next to my ear.

Does it fix any of the countless new bugs I’ve noticed and reported to Apple since finally going from iOS 12 to iOS 15.x???

Yes, it’s a rhetorical question; I will find out soon enough [that they haven’t].
