I doubt it. Mine started on Thanksgiving and has been hit & miss. Sometimes I thought it was resolved too. Some calls came through while others blocked. Maybe 50/50.
This is a strange one, hopefully VZW is aware and working on fixing it. I would call them about it but honestly feel like it would just be a waste of time trying to explain it to anyone.

That is another good tip. I am using the free version of Verizon Call Filter so I changed the filter level to "high risk only" and whitelisted (also report as not spam) the numbers that are showing up as my contacts. What's odd is the app obviously knows these are my contacts since they show up in the Call Filter app with the names from my Contact book.
Yeah, I use the free version too and honestly it works pretty well for me. The thing is, Call Filter actually works at the network level; the app is just a pretty front end for us to be able to block/allow numbers and manage settings. Call Filter can be used even on flip phones without the app, they just miss out on the blocked call notifications and have to change settings like block level and such on the My Verizon account from a computer. But because of that, there is no way for the network to "know" who is in your contacts. The app just knows they are in your contacts after the fact...

After the update, did anyone get those pop ups we used to get from carriers to update the carrier settings? Just checking to see if mobile providers also update their settings maybe on their end. i remember those pop ups from years ago.

I haven't seen one of those pop-ups in a long time. Modem and carrier version have not changed in 16.1.2, at least for T-Mobile.

Hopefully the one with AT&T where my iPhone 13 PM either doesn't ring at all (and shows as a missed call) or rings for a millisecond (and shows a missed call).

Or maybe the one were I (just now) get a voicemail notification for a VM left YESTERDAY or 3 HRS AGO or some other really delayed time? My Apple Watch will show a VM and I look at my iPhone and NOPE -- no notification.

God forbid my calls actually come to my phone with some sort of reliability and my VM notifications are timely?
Things like this have been going on for years.

16.1.2 is on. YT app started to crash almost immediately after launching any videos, again and again, and so on. Reinstalled the app - looks fine now. Will see. (SE 2020, 128 Gb).

This happened to me Sunday night. I couldn't understand why it was being reported as spam even though he is a saved contact. I hit allow in the call filter app after I realized what was happening.
I'll make a wild guess... a spammer has spoofed your friend's number and it's now in a spam database.

The visual cell bar icon can't accurately be used to determine signal strength connection and throughput.
I know, just an anecdotal observation. The download speed is 290 MB/s, I think it was a bit lower before the update. Again, time will tell.

Well sure. But it stands to reason that if the app communicates with the network, while also being able to connect the name from your contacts, that this association can be sent back to Verizon at some point in the process. Even if just after the first time, so that it doesn't continually block that known contact. After all, clicking "whitelist - no spam" in the app is sent back to Verizon.

Wonder what carrier issues are being fixed? I haven’t noticed anything.
My iPhone 13 baseband frequently crashed on 16.1.1, usually once every day or two. I don't see a firmware update for the modem in this release, but I'm hoping it resolves that.

True. Unfortunately, we're all beholden to the folks running the show (Verizon, in this case) and how they have designed it... fortunately there are some alternatives (Hiya, TrueCaller, etc.) but personally, CF works well enough for me that I can get past this hiccup (provided it doesn't become a long term thing)!

The free versions of those apps were always more trouble than I wanted to invest. App needs to be open in the background, the filter database needs constant manual updating, after every iOS update they need to be re-activated, etc., etc. The Verizon Call Filter is far from perfect, but it's been a fairly seamless process until now.

Regarding Battery Life:
I'm only a few hours in but no rapid drain seen on my 14 Pro. (I've never had battery drain on 16.1 or 16.1.1)
I typically see the phone stay at 100% for the first 5 hours of light-to-no use, and then it drops around 1% per hour of light-to-no use. This seems the same, only dropping around 1% per hour of non-use.
