Nagatron alert: After updating, you might be forced to go through a SOS tutorial. You will have a forced nag badge on your settings icon. When you go in there will be a naggtification to tap on. If you tap back out it still naggs. You are forced to tap "nag more" and forced to go through the process even though you have been familiar with everything there for a long time, except for the satellite stuff. And then the nagging will disappear. I know that some people sometimes get a naggy situation where the nagging will remain even after you have gone through everything Naggple forces you to look at, so good luck.
Don’t forget the naggy red ****ing dot either 🔴

After the update, did anyone get those pop ups we used to get from carriers to update the carrier settings? Just checking to see if mobile providers also update their settings maybe on their end. i remember those pop ups from years ago.
I also haven't seen those notifications in a few years; I think I saw one when I updated to the iOS 16 beta but before and after that, it's been a hot minute

My goodness what a SS 16 has been. I truly feel bad for you folks who are going through these issues.

Edit: If this helps, I’m obviously on 15.7.1 and my T-mobile carrier version is 50.0.2, which doesn’t make any sense with what I have read in this thread. 13 mini.

Upgraded my iPhone 14 Pro Max (that's on T-Mobile) to iOS 16.1.1 this afternoon.

I previously wasn't experiencing the cellular issues others have been encountering throughout the various iOS 16 releases, but that has changed since today's update.

I've now been experiencing non-stop connection issues from dropped calls, no data, and no service since updating.

Once I got home, I reset my network settings. We'll see how things play out tomorrow.

No change on EE carrier in the UK still 52, but I m getting more bars in my lobby than I used to so pretty much a max signal all over the house when before it was 2-4 where as the 13 Pro my friend has got a full on maximum signal on last years Qualcomm modem! Now its a solid 4 after the update, seems to happen when the phone wakes up. (I don't use AOD) on my iPhone 14 pro, mines the 1TB configuration. I thought the latest X65 modem was meant to be better but with a X60 the 13 Pro beats the 14 Pro for cellular signal where I live, or is it just Apple still making awful antennae designs?

I have seen no change here on both 3 & O2, still at 52.0, and no improvement in signal either, this is tested on 14PM 256GB and 1TB version, although the 11PM has more signal bars now, which is weird.

Edit: also just updated my wife's 13PM, same, no change or improvement, also on the 3 networks.

From the Apple security updates page:

iOS 16.1.2 (details available soon)

The update was released this morning. It’s now after 17:00 in Cupertino, yet there’s still no release notes.
Wondering if it’s quite a severe bug and they’re waiting for as many people to update before they release more information.

That or the person tasked with writing up that page is still on holiday 😂

they said it would improve crash detection....last weekend while hiking I jumped off of a 5 foot high boulder.
I got the crash detection warning. I mean not complaining as I was able to dismiss it easily. But that was not a crash....

Definitely more bars in my house on the EE network, but I’m not sure if they’ve just changed the way the phone measures the signal or what normally I said in my lobby I’d get two signal bars when the phone was sitting on the table for and in the lounge I now get five, used to get four that’s just signal bars though it doesn’t actually mean there’s any improvement in call quality. I haven’t made any calls today, so I’ll test it out later, but weird that I’ve got more bars but nothing else apparently seems to have changed. The 14 pro 1TB config on EE did drop calls every now, I’ll have to see if it’s been improved when I call my friends tonight. I should also point out. I’m in a village with a mast for all of the UK main suppliers as in Vodafone, EE, O2, and three so the 14 pro should’ve had a maximum signal. anyway, like the 13 pro, but I’m not sure if that’s actually an improvement in connectivity, or just a visual change, which I think Apple did once before quite a few years ago. Also, my screen seems to dim more now in darker surroundings than it did before, so who knows what these updates are really about, 16.Whatever is a mess.

Good to hear you have had some improvement, couple of us at work updated, although none of us is in EE, however, all 3, O2 & Vodafone saw no change (note that only 2 of the 6 of us at work have 14PM, rest have 13PM), in fact, I experienced my first call drop earlier today since a very long time, maybe just the 1 off, but I don't know, otherwise its the same amount of bars and nothing noticeable.

search function is your friend

I have been running iOS 16 on iPhone 12 mini since PB3 and have not experienced anything majorly annoying with it. Certainly by now it runs very smoothly for most people.

No OS is perfect and is a constant work in progress, so expecting some sort of perfection from it is always bound to disappoint, imo.

Apple typically does this when another OS is affected by the same vulnerability but that update has not yet been released. It is rare that a security update would only affect iOS, given that all of Apple's other OSes are built on the same foundation.
