Just for fun, I started updating all 6 devices at the same time. Winner to loser:
  1. HomePod (OG and mini)
  2. Apple TV (4K 2nd gen)
  3. Apple Watch (Series 6 and Series 7)
  4. iPhone (13 Pro and 13 mini)
  5. iPad (Pro A12X)
  6. Mac (16-inch MacBook Pro Intel, MacBook Air M1)

I started the update on my iPad Pro 11 first generation about 5 minutes before starting it on my MacBook Air M1 (2020) and the update finished on my Mac about 10 minutes before my iPad. The update was really slow on my iPad. The Mac took about 5 minutes to update.

Google Photos is not working after the update, tried reinstalling but this did not work either. Anyone?

In iPadOS update, no issues so far

Phone and TV and Home are done. Doing the Mac Air and the Watch now. I should time how long it takes to do the watch.

Strange. Updating to 16.3.1 on my 12 Pro seems to have turned on Sound Recognition. I thought I had turned that feature off. At any rate I hadn't received a notification in months. I received 3-5 notifications about a doorbell, even though I'm in a deadly silent room.

Apple today released iOS 16.3.1, a minor update for the iOS 16 operating system that first came out in September. iOS 16.3.1 comes over two weeks after the launch of iOS 16.3, an update that added Security Keys for Apple ID and support for the new HomePod.

‌iOS 16‌‌.3.1 can be downloaded on eligible iPhones and iPads over-the-air by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

According to Apple's release notes, the iOS 16.3.1 update includes multiple bug fixes, addressing issues with iCloud and Siri requests for Find My, plus it adds more Crash Detection optimizations. The iCloud settings fix may address an issue that could cause some people not to be able to toggle on automatic iCloud backups on the iPhone and the iPad, a problem that some users have been experiencing since the launch of iOS 16.3.

Crash Detection optimizations likely address ongoing issues with Crash Detection reported at ski resorts and amusement parks. At ski resorts in particular, emergency personnel have been receiving multiple accidental reports, which drain resources needed for actual emergencies. Apple has made multiple optimizations to Crash Detection to attempt to fix the problem.

Doing all. Strangely, TV OS update was was very quick. iPad had like 45 app updates immediately after. Phone similar. No problems.

This probably fixed a security hole that enables you to add a USB-C port to your iPhone:p

Software Update Failed - An error occurred while downloading iOS 16.3.1

....this is happening on my iPad Pro
It installed fine on my iPad Air 2020 and iPad mini 6, but it failed to verify correctly on my iPhone 13 Pro Max the first time. I tried verification again and it worked. I think Apple needs to UPDATE their programming group so we don’t have to have such bug-filled garbage to install all the time. There are too many updates due to crappy programming needing to be constantly fixed.
