You laugh, but "for fun", this morning, I decided to try that Legacy Update dealio with my Windows XP UTM VM, and it's now roughly 12 hours later annnnnnnnnnnnnnd....

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sooooo I installed this update and all of my apps were deleted and are now redownloading like I restored my phone

That’s weird. I’m assuming you had plenty of free space?

It’s these point releases I’m scared of installing anymore. 16.2.1 hard reset my phone twice, hasn’t happened before or since.

Anyone else notice that FACE ID and Passcode is removed after this update? Meanwhile the FACE ID and passcode are enabled in settings?

I have noticed that T-Mobile has been rolling out some kind of update for the 5G Network because different parts of my town had outages where my friends and brother live and it finally reached me but it seems like it's back up again. I don't know if there's anything to do with the security update.

It looks like other cell phone carriers are affected by it too.

If you are updating your iOS device to iOS 16.3.1 from a Mac, install these software updates before:

I updated my phone to 16.3.1, my iPad Air to 16.3.1, my watch to 9.3.1 and my HomePods to 16.3.2. I was able to get the HomeKit infrastructure update in 16.3 to work really well. However, since I made the updates to these devices yesterday, my HomeKit devices were showing "Updating" for several minutes whenever I opened the Home app on any of these devices. And Siri requests and automations were not working properly. But when I updated my 4 Apple TVs to 16.3.2 this morning, the HomeKit devices all went back to working as expected. FYI - I do have Advanced Data Protection for iCloud turned on.

Thankfully the 13 Mini and OG HomePod updated ok. Only some settings changed on my Airpods, for some strange reason.

For me, after the update, the battery health in iPhone and Apple Watch decreased ... besides, the square corners of notifications are still not fixed (iPhone 14 pro max)

Since the update, the case of the Air Pods Pro (2nd Gen) are not reporting to the battery widget; neither on my iPad Air 5th Gen, nor on my 13 mini. The buds show just fine. Also until I reset them (forget the device and repair them), the battery widget was continuously and erroneously displaying the case constantly at 51%.

Since this is both on the iPad and iPhone it's probably an iBug...

After reaching out today to support, they give me tomorrow a call from a senior rep..

Actually, now you mention it, the widget for the Airpod case is also not reporting on my 13 Mini either.

Since this update, I’ve been experiencing some new CarPlay bugs, like “pause” and “resume”. Also, when asking for directions to somewhere, SIRI will say she can’t provide information while I’m in the car…. Which is, idk, weird?!

With the help of the Apple Support I could unfreeze it, it seems that you need to go to

Settings -> General -> Date & Time: Set another timezone, dis- or enable Set Automatically
Settings -> General -> Language and Region: Switch to another region

You might or might need to do a reset after this step;

Now revert all of those back to your usual timezone and region and it should display again under your widgets. Note that you need to do it per device. This did the trick for me. I know it is weird, but whatever works :). Hope this helps you to get your case being displayed again.

Thanks, problem reported to Apple!

They wanted me to do a fresh OS install but I was avoidant due to upcoming holidays and app verifications possibly turning complicated.

Aside the battery case widget, noticed also my Airpods Pro2s did not alter location in FindMy since just before I updated to 16.3.1. Last location 11.02. and I think I updated on 12.02.

Basically today I figured out to "forget" the Airpods, reconnect from new and both issues immediately resolved themselves.

I'm back:

Forgetting did not help me, but glad your issue is resolved, too.
