That all, sadly, makes sense. I'll mess around with to see if I can figure out a useable solution. Even if I could just have it in a Stage Manager window while doing other work so it's updating live and pinging me on that particular Stage would be a step in the right direction, so maybe that's doable...

Actually, as long as I'm plumbing your brain: do I need to do something special to activate the actual notifications? I updated my iPad, but not sure how to actually make it notify. Speak ipad, speak!
It will work in your intended use case. I’m using it that way, not 100% but workable.

Just go to WhatsApp Web Settings/Notifications then turn on everything.

For some people, the struggle to get the latest iOS will be a struggle.

I have a question regarding Airplay. My Air Play now playing bar keeps popping up. Airplay keeps getting connected to my Homepod and Apple TV, yet when I switch it back to the Iphone and then put the phone to sleep, when I wake it it will go back to Homepod and Apple TV.

The update to the newer version did come to my phone but is this a new bug?

Does anyone know if this fixes any of the following?

-notifications/background audio while on speakerphone in a call sound like they’re coming through an air horn. My iPhone 13 on 15.7 used to mute them slightly.

-If you need to “redo” faceID in an app, it lags for a second or so before returning control to the app.

Both utterly obnoxious and ridiculous that it’s gotten to 16.3.1 and still not been fixed.

And a really annoying bug. Downloaded content in the tv app is no longer alphabetized. Major pita to find things now

Updated my 14 pro via hardwire on my Ventura MacBoo Pro, and it stalled and went into restore mode during installation around 60%.

Hard rebooted phone and normal reboot of Mac was the only way to trigger ANY response. Then it went into recovery mode, then asked if I wanted to restore or to try to finish update. Chose update and then it went okay.

Very strange. 🤨

edit: updated my 13 pro max just now, went 100% smooth 😎

13 pro max on T-Mobile post paid and I have the 5G option

looks like Apple also 1st booted my phone and is forcing auto downloads? This screen did not pop up on my 14 pro, again very odd 🤨

Edit: auto update/download is still an option that is toggleable

Well darn. No 5G Stand-alone for me on AT&T. 😓

You can get 5G Stand-alone on T-Mobile. They have a free trial going on for 90 days.

This is what my T-Mobile config looks like.

Dual eSim working simultaneously. I also have a dumb question. What does a 5G Stand-alone do? What are the benefits?

Just curious since this official update is for iPhone only and is minor any idea what changed from the RC? Not important but inquiring minds want to know LOL
I believe more security features were added. But honestly, I’m not sure. I’m just happy Apple pushed this one out in March and didn’t make us wait until April.

I don’t have a paid developer account so I was surprised when the option to download developer betas showed up on my iPad and iPhone after I updated. I’ve logged into the developer website, but don’t pay. I also have never had a beta installed on any of my devices.

Did anyone else have the option show up?

UnrelaTed, 16.2 broke HSKV recording with my Ecobee camera. I’m hoping 16.4 fixed it, but I’m not holding my breath.

Good call, thanks. Turn them all on. Getting sounds but no overlays like I would on desktop. I’ll have to play around.

Interestingly, I opened a separate Safari window for Whatsapp on my main Stage, and did “add to Home Screen,” which gave me a shortcut as intended. But when I click that shortcut, it’s taking me to a whole new stage where I’d have to log in again on my WhatsApp. I’m loathe to re-login because I’ve had my ipad safari refuse to let me link my WhatsApp before, so I may just leave half-working as good enough for now rather than have nothing work at all. Blah.

iPad Pro 12.9” (4th gen) updated to IPadOS 16.4 this evening. Since the update, my audio DAC (Conneted by USC-C to USB-A dongle) does not show anything with a bit-rate higher than 44.1 kHz, even though I have Hi-Res Lossless selected. Before the update, I could listen to high bitrate music from Apple Music, and the indicator light would demonstrate it was playing higher-resolution music.

I have a very simple, cheap DAC purchased a few years ago from Amazon: a Syba

SD-DAC63094. It’s not an expensive DAC by any means, but it worked just fine with high-res audio files prior to 16.4. The LED indicator light on the DAC would show it was playing 96 kHz when playing Hi-Res Lossless in Apple Music, and the 44.1 LED would light up whenever I played a “regular” lossless file. I know this is a very niche thing to ask about, but has anyone else experienced a difference such as this? Sample rate does not seem to change, no matter what I do with the quality of music I choose in settings.

Thanks for any advice anyone might have.

Yikes, it sounds as if you have to do a full reset.
It went back to normal after some time, I didn’t have to do anything. It looks like it could’ve been some indexing process. I just had never seen such a huge discrepancy before, there had been maybe about 10GB changes with some other updates, but not 100.
