to be honest I found the separation alerts never worked that well before… I would get them when my AirPods Pro and phone were with me in my car

It had a lag but was working okay for me.
What I'm wondering is if it's another case of Apple secretly removing a feature they just introduced last year...
Just updated my XR and everything is great. I was a bit nervous. I read quite a few posts on reddit and here about problems but mine is fine. The entire update only needed 3% of my battery. It went down from 81% to 78%. Battery health is unchanged. Some people reported drops of 3-5% in battery health between iOS15 and iOS16.
Beware that when you update on older devices as things may not be as good as they were before.
The wallpapers are the big disappointment and I think it has more to do with always-on on the lock screen for the new phones more than anything else. So if you buy the latest device everything is interesting and cool - have an older device and it still works but the experience will be “less” than before.
I’m just putting this out there to warn people that love their live photos lock screens and dynamic wallpapers that they won’t work like before. Maybe better to update the iOS 15 security fixes and see exactly what you get and don’t get with iOS 16 on older devices.
Like I said before, the 12 Pro Max seemed prone to bricking OTA but my experience was fine. Someone mentioned unlock in landscape but this does not work for me. The phone isn’t slower for me and battery health is the same. When I was on the beta iOS 15 program I had a drop and had to wait for like half a year for the number to move as Apple will not correct and add battery health.
I suppose Apple wants people to upgrade. So you want the best experience for iOS 16 you will have to buy the latest phone.

I would say iPhone 7 users (and below) have the best iOS experience at the moment......
Btw, one thing that Apple also promised to add to Safari browser on iOS16 is dark mode for websites, I really wish that this feature is still coming later on and doesnt get ditched.

It’s because of always-on and Dynamic Island. The new phone experience will be much better though.
No - only for the new phone. Time to upgrade (according to Apple). Now I may upgrade so I’m taking a keen interest in all this. This was probably the reason why you can still update on iOS 15 and keep your old wallpapers as they are still there on iOS 15.
Less than 24 hours on my XR. I really like it - much better than 15, which really slowed my XR down. Things are fast and snappy again.

You really have to fiddle with it to get back different lock screen and home screen. I think I set the lock screen which set both. Then I did the customize on the home
screen and added a screen shot of my old dynamic wallpaper (that is not dynamic anymore) to get back - sort of - what I had before.
I find many people get triggered too easily - we live in an oversensitive societ... oh, never mind, that's not what you meant 😂
On a serious note, though, I don't think I've ever accidentally enabled "jiggle mode". If I'm long-pressing an app icon to get its menu, I simply release it as soon as I see the menu. Seems like there's about a 1.5 second delay between the menu and jiggle mode, which is plenty of time to react imo.
Not long downloaded it, eyesight is not the best thought brilliant put the battery widget on the Lock Screen, but it is only letting it show my watch and seemingly you can’t show both watch and phone, bah humbug.
Yeah the Lock Screen/Home Screen set up is really unintuitive. It took me a bit to figure out how to get separate wallpapers on the Lock and Home Screen.
One you finish customizing the Lock Screen, you need to click Customize Home Screen. You’ll initially be brought to a page that wants you to merely tweak the same wallpaper but at the bottom there’s a Photos button where you’ll be able to pick a different wallpaper.
Thanks! But the weird thing is you can’t use this method to pick another of the stock wallpapers for your homescreen.
There’s probably somewhere you can download the iOS 16 wallpapers and add them to your photo library.
Argh, my Weather app is still crashing when trying to remove location.
If I restart my phone then Im able to remove location without crashing. But once I close the app and reopen it the location that I removed comes back.
I havent found a way to fix this yet. I dont have a computer so I cant reinstall iOS16 via ipsw.

Same problems with the weather app so I gave up. Actually I’m not using any widgets now. Actually I’d use the large long battery indicator widget but it won’t center as far as I can see - so it looks weird and why bother.
Why is the scrolling on the App Switcher so different now? I feel like it’s not registering touches properly, especia when flicking through apps very fast. Completely ruined the experience for me on iPhone 13 Pro Max. Attempting to swipe theough individual apps is even harder.
