Why is the scrolling on the App Switcher so different now? I feel like it’s not registering touches properly, especia when flicking through apps very fast. Completely ruined the experience for me on iPhone 13 Pro Max. Attempting to swipe theough individual apps is even harder.
12 Pro Max and perfectly fine on my phone BTW: I don’t want to sound down on the new iOS. Some good and some bad. However, I call them as I see them.

Having said all that I’ll probably upgrade to the 14 Pro Max 512/1 TB in white. I’ll take lightening over USB C as the connection is more durable and I need that in the rough and tumble environment I am in. It’s the connection with USB C I hate, always slipping out. Speed does not matter to me.

Upgrade for AOD. Upgrade for the sim tray in Canada. Upgrade for satellite connectivity, the new notch and so on. So this next one I may keep for a while. I fear Apple may actually go completely port-less next year.

Next phone would then be an Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 or next generation. That is the foldable to get now!

I call them as I see them.

Experiencing wifi issues with my 11pro since the 16 update. Slow to scan, find and recognize wifi. Doesn’t seem to like my school’s wifi or carrier’s free wifi hotspots, since updating. Home a bit slower to find, perhaps, but otherwise working. Otherwise like the look of 16 better. Tried a full restart.

Looks like that annoying bug that shows the AirPods Connected banner every time you unlock your device is back with 16.0.

When customising the home screen wallpaper, the blur function doesn't work as advertised. It just turns the entire image into a flat colour rather than a gentle blur. Anyone else notice this?

Let’s gooo!
Damn already issue with the oS on 12 mini. Notifications on Lock Screen are blank rectangles or overlapping.

Ive already reset twice and cleared existing notifications twice only to see new notifications show the same issues.

Yeah I've seen that. Just started happening this morning. a reboot fixed it. But then it didn't start up the weather widget on my home screen. I'm sure there will be bug fixes in 16.1 just around the corner.

Did iOS 16 last night on my iPhone 13 Pro Max (didn’t do the incremental security update, just went straight to iOS 16)

Took about 20 minutes including download. Went smoothly, but I want to address the slowdown.

Historically I do the update a few hours before bed, then I charge overnight using a Qi charger. When I did the update things were really slow. Here are some interesting observations.

Before 15.6.1 was released, I noticed that specifically the speed test app after the phone had been on would show speeds close to 550 megabit (on 3 gigabit fibre here, using an ASUS AX89X for Wi-Fi) - if I rebooted the phone it would climb back to around 790-800 megabit. After a few hours of the phone being on, if I re-tested, it would fall back to around 550 again.

iOS 15.6.1 comes out and it seemed to resolve it so I was always getting close to 800 megabit on Wi-Fi 6.

Install iOS 16. It pins at 850, right after the upgrade. It remains at 850. Wake up this morning, same story, I’m gaining about 50 megabit.

So it seems like there was memory management issues with the previous releases and even more optimization with iOS 16. Beautiful.

For those who don’t know (because I started this thought above) I do the update and let it charge overnight because like most modern computer operating systems, iOS/iPadOS needs to index all the files after a fresh install / upgrade. So naturally the phone is going to run slower. I let it index overnight.

So far in the limited use, I’m impressed that I even installed a ‘.0’ update at all and it seems pretty damn good. But I don’t have delusions here, there’s probably a TON of bugs because of all the new additions and UI changes (like the haptic keyboard didn’t work in iMessage until I closed and reopened it as a very minor example)

I want to judge the battery life change over the next week- I do notice that my mail seems to refresh a lot better than it previously did (I have 5 inboxes with heavy traffic so I wasn’t expecting miracles but I was presently surprised) - although that could be the result of re-indexing.

So far so good- time will tell.

Is it news that the Undo Send options for Mail have been changed to 10, 20 and 30 seconds and you can toggle it from the Mail app settings?

Still not available over here.

Do you have another device you could try on? Are they third part apps?

I also rebooted twice the last two days happened again along with overlapping bf individual notifications or summary notifications overlapping other summary or individual notifications that have across 2days+

I’m hoping you’re right with bug fixes.

What bothers me is Apple has no many overs and an entire fleet of employees using iPhones across various models and if you include XCode simulation there’s gotta be someone or even 60 ppl+ whom would’ve come across this in testing and then mentioned it internally prior to launch, it must’ve been.

Unfortunately no tiger Apple device to test this on. :(

This is both first party apps and third party apps in my notifications. No pattern that I can discern currently.
16.1 is circulating, that may bring a fix. Also, and this is an outside chance, sometimes completely resetting the phone and NOT restoring from an iCloud backup can help fix some issues. May be worth a shot.

Should we go 15.6.1 -> 16 or 15.7 -> 16?
It’s up to you.
Upgraded to 15.7 and waiting for 16.x on 13 Pro.
Waiting to see what other people are experiencing with 16 first.
There’s already word that 16.1 will be released soon.
15.7 is still good.

Messages is still broken with iOS 16. Go away for a weekend someplace where you set your phone into Airplane Mode. When you get back into service and turn cell/wifi back on, it will tell you that Messages was "signed out because of an error" and while it will *appear* to send and receive messages just fine, in fact it will be disassociated with iCloud messages and with syncing conversations between other devices (iPad, Mac). You have to go all the way into Settings→Messages→Send and Receive to see "Sign in with your Apple ID" and when you do that, on all your devices will be gobs of popups about "adding a new device" for the phone (and watch) now having access to the messages account.

This has been a problem for YEARS and still Messages cannot handle being in Airplane Mode for a couple of days without falling apart like this.

iPad 9.7 Pro going to 15.7. SE 3rd Gen went to 16 without issue

How well does the iPad Pro 9.7” perform on 15? How does it compare to iPadOS 13 and 14?

I use the iPad Pro 9.7 as my primary device and it is still on 13. I had intended to update to 14 last year but missed the boat.

I try to get as much life out of my devices as possible and don’t want to turn it into a slug. I’m definitely not one to regularly buy new devices. I know iPadOS 16 is imminent but I have no intention of updating straight away. However if anyone is running the 16 beta on iPad Pro 9.7” I would be interested to hear what the performance is like?

Many Thanks.
