Have you looked in the thread? There a lot of posts of people doing just that.now. please run geek bench on a phone with the before the fix and the after.
see if the
CPU performance is down alot.

The app used for train tickets in my country will maximize brightness when you click to show the QR. So it’s not apples fault. The developers of these apps can fix itScreen dimming is done to reduce heat production.
The real solution is for more places to stop relying on scanning QR codes off of screens, and implement Apple Wallet/NFC support in their apps and POS terminals.
Maybe some of you guys who've been here for years can chime in but... it sure seems like there's way too many updates these days compared to ten years ago. Seems like every few days, there is a reported issue, then I have to sit through another update. And another, and another, and another and... it's just out of control.
Why should they throttle when running a benchmark app? Better to check real life apps e.g. games. Before and after. So, again:
Before (17.0.2):
View attachment 2288571After (17.0.3):

That's within the acceptable range (every bench is different on 17.0.2 as well). So they not underclocked the CPU.
They would not need to underclock the CPU. They might need to throttle more aggressively as the temp raises. GB benchmark is too short, it never creates thermal issues thus comparing GB results is not indicative at all.So, again:

Am I the only one who’s been getting these overheating instances on an 11 pro max? It all started with iOS 17. Especially when booting the devices gets really warm for a few minutes. The battery got replaced about 1 year ago.
Lol classic moving of the goalpostsThey would not need to underclock the CPU. They might need to throttle more aggressively as the temp raises. GB benchmark is too short, it never creates thermal issues thus comparing GB results is not indicative at all.
It’s just letting the users and analytics of usage and logs take care of the quality control. We’re just de facto beta testers of all the x.x.x versions that should never have been released. Much cheaper for Apple. Better for shareholders. So I guess it comes down to whether or not we think all these updates and bugs are worth it. Because looking back to iOS 6, the first update didn't come out for two calendar months. Then it took three whole months for the next three to drop. There was also a total of just ten updates during the course of its lifespan. Compare that to iOS 16, where you get the first three updates in less than a month, and twenty updates overall. It's just insane. We're bathing in updates. It's almost never-ending.
Is it worth it? I don't know. I had a 4s. It didn't do what my newer phone does, sure. But I can't say I'm doing much more on it personally than I was before. So I'm not sure the benefits outweigh the hassle for me.
Before, after what? I don't have thermal camera sadly. Why should they throttle when running a benchmark app? Better to check real life apps e.g. games. Before and after.
Absolutely. YouTubers will continue to get so much mileage out of this by claiming throttling or overheating or both (even if they aren't true).Famous last words.![]()
Yep that seems to be the caseI rerun the test, right now it shows :

So maybe earlier there was something going on.
Every iPhone, or any phone was/is warm during update. You guys are acting you saw a phone first time.Like many have posted my phone got quite warm during the update. In fact, it's the warmest I have felt since I got my 15 Pro.
That is an impossibility on MR. You have a better chance of hooking up with an Android girl and having iPhone babies. Finally the controversy can rest
ALL software releases have bugs from EVERY company. It was fixed quickly and if it harmed any phones Apple would replace them immediately. Overreaction much?It means Apple’s excuse is full of ****, at least partially filled with it. If an iOS update is going to fix anything then it is global, regardless if any app has done something wrong. If the new iOS 17 demands some changes that an older version of the app not updating to a new API or something, we would have seen the issue much more wide spread, or that Apple will say it.

Or maybe fire Ming Chung Kuo for talking without knowing what he's talking about. Or at least stop publishing here on MacRumors everything he says.nice, quick fix out. now fire the inept engineers who manage to miss it in the first place.
