Maybe some of you guys who've been here for years can chime in but... it sure seems like there's way too many updates these days compared to ten years ago. Seems like every few days, there is a reported issue, then I have to sit through another update. And another, and another, and another and... it's just out of control.
My 13 Pro has been running like an oven since I put iOS 17 on it, so its definitely not just a new phone thing. Why an iPad OS update if this an iPhone and A17 pro issue.
It’s just three patches after release. They could have done nothing. The rapid response is good.Maybe some of you guys who've been here for years can chime in but... it sure seems like there's way too many updates these days compared to ten years ago. The heat problem is being rebranded into wintermode. You know to keep your hands warm and that the screen still is able to detect your touches.Just updated my 15 pro max to 17.0.3 and it’s legitimately warmer than it was on 17.0.2 🤣
I shut down after updating and let it cool down. Now its back to being warm.
IP14 Pro Max and I have all my stuff on auto update. Both mine and wife are still on 16.6.1. Wonder why its taking awhile. Same on our Series 8 watch, auto update hasn't happened. ATV hasn't yet but all our HomePods did.
Weird. Some of my previous phones have done that before if the cellular signal gets messed up for a while after a restart or update. I’d give it another restart cycle (and/or a day or two) to see if it calms down, but definitely bring it back to Apple if not.No, Prior to this I was also like you wondering what they were talking about. This update seemed to do the opposite. The A/C in my work is pretty cold right now. ANd my phone is literally able to warm my hands a bit. It seems to have calmed down a tiny bit. I can definitely feel it's still a tiny bit warmer than it should be.
So did mineWell, my iPhone 15 Pro got unbelievably hot doing this update! Like the hottest it's ever got.
And you would consider 100F heat stress…for silicon?I'm an EE with 50+ years' experience and unfortunately, after a device is heat stressed, its MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) is reduced. Meaning, early failure.
Same here, my 15 pro max is cold even during charging, I never close my apps, just been on instagram for a while and it’s still cold.Byeeeeeeeeeee
Im going to carry on using my perfectly non-warm 15 pro max.
This happened in iOS 17, did you check after that initial upgrade and are just noticing now?Warning guys: Apple is enabling ALL location services after this update...again!
BS privacy talk...and making it hot again due to this.
These settings were always off. All of a sudden I see Significant locations turned on with these updates and even three location that were registered WHILE it was never turned on on those days.
Does this mean Apple is secretly still recording locations while it is turned off?
How is it possible three locations on three days appear listed?
Yeah quality control is crap. Anyone who argues otherwise has blinders on - and more power to them if they can't tell the difference I guess.
Did you read my reply out of context? I was replying on specifically the part where Apple blames 3rd party apps doing something wrong in their code that partly contributes to the issue. While it may have some truth to that stance, but Apple's reaction does not line up with that. A quick iOS update to fix this means Apple is within power to control and eliminate this by itself. It means regardless of state of 3rd party code, the origin of the heat issue is on Apple's.ALL software releases have bugs from EVERY company. It was fixed quickly and if it harmed any phones Apple would replace them immediately. Overreaction much?
Definitely not. I turned them off 100%.This happened in iOS 17, did you check after that initial upgrade and are just noticing now?
