I bought my 2017 car in the last month before the 2018 model came out. The models that came out earlier had some callbacks. My car has had no problems at all. This is how I deal with iOS updates. So I will stay with iOS 16 until iOS 18 approaches. Then I will update to iOS 17.

Well it will be within the next release. I'll get the last update before the next one comes out. I've been doing this since iOS 13.
 
If you are on 14.2, definitely update to 14.2.1 ASAP. This critical issue has been fixed:

I understand it's better to be safe and bug-free, but keeping up with Apple's updates on multiple devices has become a side job in itself.
Or just set it for automatic and let it do its thing while you sleep. Just a thought.

Funny that, my work-issued laptop cannot do that (which is my employer’s fault for enforcing lousy configs, not anyone else’s fault).
