Apple Releases iOS 17 With StandBy, Live Voicemail, Improved Autocorrect, FaceTime Video Messages and Tons More

Messenger app keeps instantly closing on my moms 11 pro max. Wondering if I should reinstall the Os. Uninstalling the app doesn’t help. Also when hard resetting the phone it enters in a bootlop for a while. Worried it might be tim forcing us to buy a new one

17 doesn't seem to be any better at counting the number of unread emails than 16,15,14,...
It says I have 3. I say I have none. I must be counting them wrong.

Looks like Apple may provide some updates for iOS 16 for those of use who will remain behind for a while

iPhone 13: Finally updated to iOS 17 from 15.7.2. iOS 16 has not been that great to me, so I just remained on iOS 15 for about a year. So finally updated to 17; it has been good, no issues for me, and the battery is better than iOS 16. Normally, iOS 16 drops my battery by around 5–6 percent at night(standby). iOS 15 drops my battery by around 1 percent at night. iOS 17 drops my battery by around 2 percent. So iOS 17 is the way.
I have changed to 100%. I have got around 8 hours of battery backup and still have 17% of the remaining battery.

I updated my XR, admittedly an old phone, last week and I have to say iOS 17 seems riddled with bugs. The worst is the omission of scrubbing for fine control over video playback. However, last night my phone got hot, and then totally froze. I couldn't even get it to do a hard reset. I couldn't turn it off. Some aspects were still functional but not the critical ones. Eventually the thing cooled down and I was able to wrestle with the phone to restart it. I was going to upgrade to the 15. Now I am not so sure if this is the poor quality control I can expect.

We’ve had zero bugs on more modern iPhones w/ iOS 17, we have a 13 PM & a 15P. My guess is it’s time to upgrade your XR for a newer iPhone… 🫶🏻

That was my intention, but there are other thing that annoy me as well about iOS17 (no video scrubbing for one). It just doesn't seem polished to me.

Maybe that’s because it’s an old model, and this is like the last major iOS release for it ? The last major iOS version is usually quite buggy on the very old models.

I’m using a 14 Pro Max and iOS 17 has been very smooth so far for me, no issues at all. It even seemed to slightly improve the battery life and fix some of the heating issues I had with it. I updated to 17.0.1 and it’s still quite as stable.

Video scrubbing works perfectly in both view & edit modes for videos on the iPhone Pro 15 w/ iOS 17… 👍🏻

That works only from the video progress bar. I am losing my eyesight so often magnify images so the progress bar is off screen. Before scrubbing could occur anywhere in frame of the video, which means people like me could still use it with magnification on. Taking this feature away shows me just how amateurish Apple is when it comes to accessibility sometimes.
