With all the reports of (much) worse battery life I don't think I'll be in a rush to upgrade. I may stay on the iOS 16 track for a bit and see if this improves by 17.1.

Everyone says that on every release, just about. I'm running the pre-release and it is about normal for me. Earlier releases were not.

It looks like my iPad and iPhone are no longer able to access betas as of today. I don’t even see the option to be part of the beta program anymore. I’ve been on developer beta since beta 2.

LOL. I’ve been doing iOS Betas since the public program debuted and this year did the developer betas. I ran into exactly one issue that was taken care of when the next beta was released. It’s been the smoothest beta cycle I’ve been a part of for a major new iOS version.

Your mileage may very but I wouldn’t hesitate to install iOS 17 today nor to recommend installing iPadOS 17, WatchOS 10 or Sonoma when that’s released to the general public.

There have been plenty of guinea pigs working with all of these for months now.

I wish you didn't have to have it on a charger in order for Standby to work. My battery is solid so when im at my desk working, I would like to have it sideways for the clock without having to charge.

Downloading iPadOS 17. So, iPadOS 16 got the Weather app, iPadOS 17 got the Health app. Calculator app in iPadOS 18?

Mine is there. I was able to turn off beta updates.

People did test it , there were 8 versions of the beta

Battery life actually improved with iOS 16, but people still said that. With iOS 17 RC there are tests where screen on time on the iPhone 13 was reduced by more than an hour compared to 16.6.1. Hard pass for me.

because there is no beta atm. its the same for Mac OS

Battery life actually improved somewhat with iOS 16 compared to (later releases) of iOS 15. Definitely not the case this time.
