I just downloaded it, and it went fairly quickly. I’m at the “preparing update” phase. It came in at a whopping 13.67GB on my 15 Pro.

IT BEGINS.

iPhone done. Seems ok. Not as horrible as I thought it might be.

Actually looks better in dark mode than light mode.

Mac updating, then watch and iPad.

It’s the first time that I’ve used Liquid Glass myself.

I’m surprised at how subtle it is - which is a compliment.

It’s only really turning on the Liquid Glass Home Screen icons being a huge difference.

It’s a bit weird that all of my icons looked smudged - I mean ‘liquid glassy’ though.

I’m bemused at why there was loads of controversy all summer. But maybe it was a lot rougher in the early betas.

Update complete for my iPhone 15 Pro, and up and running. Took about 40 minutes perch to pedestal.

I myself updated my iPhone 16 Plus and iPad Air M3 to iOS 18.7 and iPadOS 18.7 first. I'll let the others take the arrows for the bugs in the initial iOS 26 releases as I will at minimum wait for iOS/iPadOS 26.0.1 or even 26.1 in October 2025.

I have it installed on my iPhone 15 now. My first impression of the new UI, is meh, I don't care for it much. I've already gone to Accessibility and turned on Reduce Transparency and am playing with wallpapers to make the icons not look so ugly to me.

Are there any other settings to employ to make it more like the previous version?

I'll eventually get used to it the look, but I'm not liking it so much so far.

should I first update to 18.7 or just skip it and do the full IOS 26 update?
Edit: just went ahead and am updating to IOS26..skipping the 18.7 heck Im upgrading this phone anyway just in the meantime til I get my new one I want to be updated

I guess it's not compatible with the 32GB iPad 8... I get a message that says "This update cannot be installed because it requires at least 14.56 GB of available storage during installation."

iPadOS takes up 11.03 GB and System Data takes up 7.31 GB, so even if I delete all my apps, I still wouldn't have room. Very lame of Apple, and also highlights the pitiful base storage all across its lineup.

  • Liquid Glass makes interactions across iOS more delightful, refracts and reflects content in real time, and brings even more focus to what you're viewing on your screen
After using the public beta for a month or so, I don't get it

Delightful: Dessert? Delightful. A day off from work? Delightful. Having a date night with my wife? Delightful. My iOS software? Functional please.

Refract and reflect: What does that even mean as far as my hardware and software?

Brings even more focus to what you're viewing on your screen: Focus? Like IN focus? Focus on a specific item on my screen? Focus on my work?

I just don't get the obsession (by Apple) with liquid glass.

I installed this release over the RC, and within 30 minutes of it being installed and just leaving my phone, I’m noticing that this build is much better. Call me crazy or whatever but my phone is running much better (16 Pro Max).

Good luck everyone. Be patient once you install it and let the phone do its backend crap. Sometimes it takes days to normalize.
