Why would someone lie about Game Center support for the 3G being pulled?

Anyway, screenshot of release notes below for the skeptics.

That's sad. Was planning on getting a 4th gen Touch anyway, though, so I guess it won't really affect me too much. I'm seeing the limits of 500MHz a little too often these days, anyway.

In a way it is sad that the device is functionally obsolete at the expiration of its two year contract.

Eh, I guess if you think about it from a glass half full sort of perspective, you could say at least the hardware isn't fragged. My Bb 8100 is at the end of its two-year now and while the OS still suits my needs fine (ya, I have few needs), the keyboard and trackball are practically unusable.

That and considering how fast the smartphone market is evolving, two years is starting to get longer and longer.

For the same reason iOS 4 doesn't work on iPhone 2G. Toooo slow. Why can't i install blackberry os 6 on my pearl from 5 years ago? WTF why does RIM want to make sure we upgrade our ********** devices?

LOL. The voice of reason has spoken.

I finally looked at what OS version my Bb was running today when I saw 6 was out. Turns out that "pearl from five years ago" (two in my case) goes up to 4.5. If you're running Leopard or higher. I'm on Tiger. WTF why does RIM want to make sure we upgrade our ******* laptops?

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A306 Safari/6531.22.7)

Does it fix the iPhone 4 camera white balance issue?

Can SOMEONE please check this??? This is the fix I'm really hoping will happen with this update...

Never happened for me either until the iPhone 4. And doesn't happen every time on the iPhone 4. Sometimes it will hang up and other times it turns the screen off.

I'm experiencing the proximity issue too. I didn't at first as I usually use the headphones. When I hold the phone to my ear the screen turns off but if I move the phone slightly or break the contact with my ear and let any light in the screen turns back on. It seems to be too sensitive and or needs a couple seconds of lag before turning on. I've been talking and the mute button is pressed accidentally or hung up on my call. It's definitely different than my 3G... Never had the problem. Oh, I have the iPhone 4 and aside from a couple of issues that are manageable... I love it.

Regarding the sleep button, I just noticed that during a call if I put the display on sleep while on headphones, then unplug the headphones, the display is still locked. Not very practical though...

It's really stupid that you can't lock the display without headphones or speaker.

I like that feature. When I get text messages iOS makes me click cancel through each one before it will let me hang up on a call... I can just click the lock button hang up on the call then deal with the text messages. Maybe when they fix the notification system I could find the sleep to hang up annoying...

Is Safari still attempting to focus the text when you're entering something in a textbox so the lower half of all the letters is cut off by the top of the keyboard (MacRumors itself being a good example of this happening)?

It's really very annoying.

Hi,

For those who are wondering if iPhone 3G performance is better in this release, I can say that the signs are good! I was running 4.0.1 after a fresh install and it was horribly laggy and crashy. 4.1 Beta 3 is much more responsive and so far I have had no issues. Only installed last night but performing really well so far.

I hope this helps,
Craig.:)

This is exactly what I was looking for. I downloaded the beta 3 build just now, and was wondering if it would be worth it to go ahead and install it.

I think we'll see 4.1 on around the first week of September. This is when the iPod touch gets its refresh. Any one else agree?

I certainly agree, in fact it is Apple's tradition to do so. 2.1 was released when the iPod Touch 2g was released, same with 3.1 and iPod Touch 3g. I expect the 4.1 release to be around (if not the same day) as the iPod Touch 4g release.

hope this fixes the Bluetooth issues

is there anyone actually using a BT headset regularly with iOS4 and having no issues with the sound or connection quality??

and obviously the proximity sensor is an issue

originally i thought this was just the tint on the glass causing the problem but i don't think my screen is coming on, it's just that the buttons are not being deactivated or at least not staying deactivated while the screen is off

glad to see other here were coming to the same conclusion
