If consumers don't want Siri then why was it quickly copied by Samsung and Google (and others?). They obviously felt it was a compelling enough feature that they needed to expend precious resources to ensure their devices had something similar.

Siri is one of the most gimmicky features on iOS IMO. It's right up there with Face time.

sounds like a carrier issue....my calls are all clear and non "robotic"

Not a carrier issue - or at least my iteration of this problem isn't.

Using the iPhone 5 w/o a headset gives terrible audio. Plugging in a headset fixes the issue and the audio (my transmitted audio) becomes awesome.

Definitely an issue with the phone, now that I've updated I need to test it out. As previously noted, I took the phone back to the Apple store and they did not replace it.

FWIW, the md5sum of this IPSW is aa29f384c43de5b1522e00a8d6ff46ee which, as stated already, is identical to the beta 5.

Reports of Battery Life?

I haven't updated my iPhone 5 at all because I have pretty good battery life and don't want to sacrifice that for something as minimal as this..

So now my phone is stuck saying 'connect to itunes'. Why is that?

Same thing happened to me. I used the iTunes method. I ended up deleting the iOS 6.1 firmware image and re-downloaded and then it installed just fine. I have to restore everything from iCloud now.

App Store

Anyone notice the app store on 6.1? old version? It was fine and after DL 2 apps, it changed.

Who buys a 16 GB phone? Rule of thumb, always buy the middle version of anything (not the smallest, nor the largest). That way you don't pay the most, nor pay the least. Pay the middle. All's good.

Popcorn at movie -- medium please. No I don't want to pay another $.25 for the large.

plenty of people buy 16 GB iPhones....it's the most popular storage amount for all iPhones...not everyone has a 2TB iTunes collection....

Peculiar

It updated without event except it claimed it couldn't verify the downloaded update, I told it to verify it again then it updated fine.

Everything was fine when it came back up, although one quirk happened: a voicemail someone left me four days ago suddenly showed up on the phone as if it was left just now and I never saw the voicemail four days ago.

There is ZERO data showing Android is losing in the market race...in fact, Apple is the one losing.

You die-hard Apple fans are trying too hard because like the VERY SIMPLE and VERY BASIC operating systems. Try doing some ACTUAL research and you'll see that Apple is by far NOT superior.

WRONG, go do some actual research yourself. Apple has not lost any market share to Android. They've both been gaining at the expense of other competitors.

And while I agree iOS needs to update, most people don't care to control and customize every little aspect of their OS. This is why iOS adoption still continues to grow. Maybe not at the pace of Android, but to say Android is superior us just as subjective as saying iOS is superior. So go play in your non-iOS sub-forum and stop trolling.

Haven't been able to update because of not being allowed to download a measly 107mb update on my unlimited data plan. Tethering to my mac to download has not been any help either because a) it's a 1gb non-delta update and b) it has failed at the very end of the download, twice!

Is there a way to install it outside of iTunes and OTA?

Hopefully this will fix the wifi issues I have been having. The one that wasn't fixed by the update that was supposed to fix the issue. You Know...last time.;)

Anyone else getting this?

Yes, for now because my iPhone 5 is not going anywhere until I qualify for a next upgrade!

If you could care less it means you have a little caring left. I assume you don't have any caring less and therefore should be saying "I could't care less" - meaning your caring level is at 0.

The ability to download an indivdual song from iTunes Match is probably the biggest plus for me in this new update. Would like the ability to add or change album artwork, delete songs from iCloud, get info on any song (same as 'get info' via iTunes), play count number for any song. This is in addition to a plethora of changes and enhancements 'needed' to iOS overall!

I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it... my regional carrier was added to the list (C Spire)

I have call quality issues as well. I've been forced to use a headset the entire time I've had the iP5.

Store refused to swap it out, as they couldn't duplicate the issue. Filed a bug report, hoping 6.1 addresses this. If not, it's back to the store, won't take no for an answer...

Tell them "geniuses". You have rights if your having problems with your electrical goods.

I have virtually no music on my iPhone. I do have a few movies and a bunch of games and other apps. I currently have only used 10.5 GB on my 32 GB iPhone (it shows as 17.6 GB available).

But I would rather have the buffer of a 32 GB phone, than have purchased 16 GB and be concerned that by downloading a couple more movies I'm pretty much at my limit.

16GB is the most popular because its the cheapest. However, people should not always buy the cheapest (like McDonalds food). $100.00 more buys a lot of piece of mind. In my experience, it makes sense to purchase the middle ground. The 16 GB model is sold to tempt the ones who purchase based solely on what something costs. The 64 GB is for the power users. All others should choose the middle ground.

Maybe what they are saying is that in a few moments they will care less than they do currently?
