I'm stuck with "preparing to install" and a greyed out "install update now" with a text beneath it saying "you can install now after iPhone has finished restoring from iCloud backup". This is weird as it isn't doing anything else and definitely not restoring from iCloud. Why should it anyway for an OTA? Tried rebooting Mac and iPhone, toggle airplane mode on and off... Any tips?

NERVERMIND... I found the bloody toggle to stop the backup and it seems to be installing now. Weird!

Pretty Quick

The install was pretty quick. I haven't experienced the problems that some people have been experiencing with their download. For instance, my photo album remained untouched and iTunes Match is working well. Other than that, I haven't go to play around and see other updates as of yet.

they fixed the open stocks, on iPad in Siri., I wonder if they fix the issue I was having when you close the smart cover (or manually lock the device) most of the time the music playback would stop.

i believe you mean UDID?

i knew this was going to happen. don't lecture me about it, i knew what i was getting myself into when i put a BETA!!! on my phone.

i don't need tons of people telling me i shouldn't be doing this, because its my device and i can put whatever software i would like on it.

Your response just shows your ignorance, I'm afraid. By installing Apple software without approval from Apple means are you doing it ILLEGALLY. You are NOT ENTITLED to use Apple's software on *your device* as you please. All software is licensed from the developer and you are *choosing* to ignore that license for your own enjoyment. Some people will rightfully disagree with you, including me.

But go ahead... do as you please, thinking that you are allowed to. :)

Yep. Shame I never tried it :p

Edit: Believe the music stopping bug was fixed.

has anybody tried to update that has installed the iOS 6 beta 1 on their iPhone 4S that IS NOT registered with apple? if so, how'd it go for you? any issues? I'm scared its going to make my device downgrade to iOS 5, once it figures out I'm not registered with apple..

I'm not a developer and I downloaded iOS 6 beta 1
I just updated over the phone to iOS beta 2 and it worked perfectly.
These people speaking of the update bricking your phone are literally just making things up.

Under System Services in Location Services there's an option "Wi-Fi Networking" that I don't remember being in Beta 1... Maybe I'm wrong.

Was Steve Jobs entitled to use LSD? Was he entitled to create the Little Blue Box that made long-distance calling free? Was he entitled to drive without licence plates?

If you are willing to do the time, feel free to do the crime (unless it involves harming another human being physically or psychologically)

Can Apple really complain if its users follow the example set by their leader?

Maybe that they are SDK members and think it's unfair ;P

hmm wonder if widgets are around the corner

I hate widgets, and the concept behind widgets.
there is not one piece of information I constantly need open. Not one. Except for time.

Widgets are the worst thing about Android.
Makes it feel really dated and slow.

I doubt that. It's just about wearing a moral high hat. I really think the only reason Apple makes it difficult to install these betas, if you can call it that, is so that people can't later complain when things don't work. They will just say, "we told you not to install it".
