Just bricked my phone, whoop de whoop... Failing to restore from back ups. Going back through Time Machine to find one that hopefully works.

You can't tell me, that some of you restore their phone as NEW with every X.0.1 update
I'm tired of restoring as new....

Your logic is stupid.

Android doesn't have these bugs that need fixing.

You mean Google developers have managed to write the perfect piece of software? Amazing. I didn't know it was possible to write a fully-functioning operating system without a single bug in it!

Must be because Android is open. Whatever that means... it obviously works!

You will probably be out of luck....word on the street is to NOT add iOS7 to the 4, and perhaps not the 4S. Time to step up to a 5S!

BTW, the update is not showing up on the east coast....any luck out there?

Yes showing up here. NH/Boston's area

About Greek keyboard bug.

iOS allows you enter alphanumeric password and it allows you to have it in any language you have enabled.

So some users had a Greek password on iOS 6.
When they upgraded to iOS 7 they couldn't unlock their phone because the Greek keyboard was missing on the unlock screen.

Greek keyboard was working everywhere else hence the bug fix and reference on the pass code screen.

How do you know such? It is like saying most Windows users don't even know their computer is running Windows.

If your claim is true, then all I can say is that I feel sad for this society... People are just plain stupid

my sister thinks her laptop runs office as an OS and my cousin has an "samsung" not a "android" my mum thinks it will cost money to send me an email to spain

u give average ppl too much credit ^^

>> Major release of new software
>> Bug is found and reported
>> Bug is fixed in an expedient fashion
>> Somehow we are arguing about Android

iOS 7 works fine on my son's 4S.

I concur.

I did do a DFU to iOS 7 on my 4S. 7 is running perfectly fine on it as well.

Clearly you are not fan if Android. You clearly over generalized for your statement. I get update right after Google announce update with my Nexus devices. I also able to flash any ROM on my own to get new update, it is easy and folks on sad developper do great job for writing instructions.

Clearly, not all android device take month to update, if you willing to try, you can get update as soon as possible as well.

Don't tell me average user ********. If you can work at company for you complicated job, you can do that as well.

what is the percent of nexus devices among all android devices? probably not even worth mentioning. what percent of android users are on the last android version? what percent of new phones running android coming out this month is on the latest version? come on...

imagine a week from now a huge security bug is found on android? how would google be able to react? and suddenly you got hundreds of millions of users world wide exposed... in my opinion, these should be enough grounds for lawsuit and i think governments around the world should interfere to protect the costumers from their own cheapness and bad decisions, because there isnt a thing in the world someone cant make cheaper and worse, and that kind of goods should be banned. in our day and age, virtual security is becoming one of the most important ones, and googles android os is fundamentally flawed in that regard (not to mention whole VM path they took, lack of control in any regard, lack of monetization of the platform, laggy ui, abandoning android project and transferring resources to chromeOS in the near future) because of the update system through carriers.

apple could pull it of, why cant google? because google wanted to offer the easiest solution for everyone to reach market share for their advertising business and of course, is run by geeks who dont have a connection with reality. reading this sentence alone would stray me a hundred miles from android, but ok...

i was schooled for my complicated job, i am payed from my complicated job and i should pay hundreds of dollars for a device i NEED to maintain to reach the level of security (not features) of the latest os? and while im at it, maybe i should take a few more steps and write one myself? why are microsoft and apple still issuing security updates for their old desktop os? apple supports devices 3 years old (2010), why cant google? because they are fundamentally flawed in their approach when it comes to android - they just want to reach most costumers. and that premise is fundamentally bad in every way imaginable and is the root of probably most of android problems. all android manufacturers should concentrate on building the best device (in their opinion) not on most devices. how can someone buy a device that was purposely made cheap? buy a flagship 2 years old... that is supported, of course. you dont need to listen to me, just look android enterprise penetration

i mean, galaxy s4 is getting 4.3 update in october, come oooon! and htc developer edition?

and please tell me, how do i make a complete backup of an android phone without 3rd party apps? i mean, really, its the most basic function, aside from maybe calling and texting

notice how many times i used the word fundamentally? the beginning of android, the change they made when they saw iphone os, software running in vm, lack of control over carriers, their bloatware, update system, different ui like touchwiz that make a laggy platform even more laggier, lack of curated apps store, ability to download from untrusted sources leading to malware, maybe viruses and lack of monetization of the platform amounted to a colossal failure beyond repair and without clear future. thats probably why they are going with chromeos. im not talking about features, im talking about fundamental characteristics of android os - android doesnt have paying costumers! look at the stats

yeah, but you can change the keyboard, view file system and use torrent

citing you, i really feel bad for this society.

This broke my phone, had to itunes restore, anyone else see this ?

----------

same for me dude

Great - 7.0.2 update bricked my iPhone 4. iTunes displayed the message that the update couldn't be completed and now the phone appears to be stuck on the verification step and no longer shows up in iTunes. I'm giving it a while to see if the phone recovers itself since I don't want to restart it while it's in its current state. I would recommend holding off on this for a while.

(Edit) Yes, I'll try a recovery-mode restore later.

Code:
[11:31:55.5876] device returned CFError with code 6
[11:31:55.5888] dumping CFError returned by restored:
[11:31:55.5895] CFError domain:AMRestoreErrorDomain code:6 description:failed to fixup var
[11:31:55.5905] Sending acknowledgement that final status was received
[11:31:55.6817] Restore completed, status:6
[11:31:55.6817] Failure Description:
[11:31:55.6817] Depth:0 Error:AMRestorePerformRestoreModeRestoreWithError failed with error: 6
[11:31:55.6817] Depth:1 Error:The operation couldn’t be completed. (AMRestoreErrorDomain error 6 - Failed to handle message type StatusMsg)
[11:31:55.6817] Depth:2 Error:The operation couldn’t be completed. (AMRestoreErrorDomain error 6 - failed to fixup var)

Yeah - sounds like this update is better at messing up phones than fixing bugs... I think I'll hold off for a little while.

This is the typical mentality of a tech nerd regarding non-techies -- They should just know how to do it!

Most users don't actually know what Android is, other than a phone that's like the iPhone. They don't know it's an OS. They don't know what an OS even is. They don't know anything about ROM, RAM, storage, SD cards, etc. Flash? You mean adobe Flash (if they even recognize that) or do you mean a flashlight? The phone can play Candy Crush and get on Facebook? Great! I'll take the cheapest one, please!

Suggesting the average user should have to read instructions on how to "Flash their ROM" and update correctly for said phone is asinine at best.

My battery life is great. Getting 24 hours no problem on my 5S and my 4S has changed very little.
I assume Bluetooth turning on after the update is something to do with Airdrop. My 5S did the same with the update to 7.0.1.
As for the Android nonsense being posted on here, for no real reason other then trolling, I have tried to love Android. I really have. I'm an über geek and all my laptops and desktops I customise to the hilt. But Android, for me anyway, always disappoints. Yes you have custom ROMs, but I find that to be just like putting a plaster on a broken leg. Besides which, ITS A PHONE. Why worry. If it makes calls, texts, and can surf the internet, all the rest is just a bonus anyway. My opinion anyway. Probably doesn't count, but meh.

If you read the description, there is nothing about iPad optimization or enhancements at all.

Plenty of companies (mine included :) ) release small tweaks, fixes, etc., during a major bug fix release without documenting them.

Case in point:

Looks like the flash indicator text overlapping with HDR controls in Camera have been fixed (HDR now disappears when Flash options are expanded).

I keep hearing people complain about iOS 7 on the iPhone 4S. I haven't noticed any issues on it. I use it mainly as an iPod but playing around with it. I havent noticed any problems.

Was kinda hoping for a WiFi fix for my iPhone 5S. Drops and picks up WiFi all the time. Little frustrating to an overall awesome upgrade from my 4S.

If you use apple routers, there was an update for mine that improved things.
