Apple Releases iOS 7.0.5 for iPhone 5s/5c With Fix for Network Provisioning in China

Article starts by saying that 7.0.5 has been released for "iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch." Ant then goes on to say it only applies to certain iphone models (and perhaps obly in China). Should remove mention of iPad and iPod touch if this is the case.

I've asked the editors the same question.

EDIT: Looks like they've fixed it. :)

how strange ... why release it as a "software update" and not just some mobile network provision file update like with all the other carriers

Because it probably has the fixes for the JB in as well. Just my guess

To clarify, the update is for "iPhone6,2" (5s) and "iPhone5,4" (5c). For firmware purposes, this includes not only most Asia Pacific models (A1528/A1530) but also European models (A1457) for 5s. Similar situation with 5c.

So for Euro customers, you'll get this update but it probably doesn't do anything for you.

In iOS 6, if I saw a release with just "bug fixes", I wouldn't care. In iOS 7, the occasion calls for a fiesta!

Like the way people remember ios 6 as if it was the best thing ever, when at the time it was getting absolutely slated. Will happen when ios 8 comes out and people will be reminiscing about the "perfect" iOS 7, which they never thought existed at the time

As a UK iPhone user, who will be visiting China in a couple of weeks, I wonder if this will benefit me. No harm in updating, I guess even if it won't!

anyone have any idea whether this will be of any benefit to me?

what the heck? totally another thing they write in the notification

I don't know, that wasn't me. I thought it needed a redesign and Maps needed to be fixed, but at least my phone didn't randomly reboot and at least Voice Memos (an app I use constantly for work) didn't crash 5+ times a day on me. So yeah, iOS 7 could really use some bug fixes. I'm not saying I hate it, and I'm not saying iOS 6 was the best thing ever, I'm just saying I want them to fix the things that should've been fixed by last September when the OS was released. You know?

Indeed. I get more excited than usual when I see any mention of an update.... because i'm so frustrated with all the Safari crashes (i get several a day minimum). I don't have many hard reboots (have only had maybe 2-3 total on iPad Air since I got it. I've never had this much problem with an Apple software product before.

iPhone 5s
A1457 (UK/Europe)
A1528 (China)
A1530 (Asia Pacific)

iPhone 5c
A1507 (UK/Europe)
A1526 (China)
A1529 (Asia Pacific)

Exactly how many versions of the iPhone are there? Is this just a specific flavor for a specific country given the cell frequency or is there something else that I missed?
