Went from 12.8gb free space to 12.1gb. Big update huh?

It doesn't work like that. Updates are not necessarily adding all new files thus using more space but replacing existing files. So you cant judge by file size how "big" an update it is.

OK well, if you're happy for anyone with a little knowledge to intercept supposedly secure communications you have with your bank or online retailers, go for it.

Myself, I'll take the fix for the enormous gaping hole in security.

The update for the older version is because the problem is so critical.
Why not update iOS 5 (if not even earlier versions) as well then?

As for 7.1, who is to say the issue hasn't already been there?

Isn't that what 7.1 is for?

So, these 7.x.x releases weren't bug fixes to you? Some were critically fixes like the one today.

I consider the complete inability to use Apples built-in web browser on their flagship tablet pretty critical. I honestly don't know why I've kept the Air, it has basically been sitting on my desk for 2 months since I can't use it for web browsing.

Should it be something more behind this release? Why would apple release this two weeks before 7.1? I am tired of my iPad Air reboots and other glitches, we need 7.1 asap.

Sounds like most people with the Air don't have the problem with Safari that you describe TechnoPimp so it sounds like you have a lemon - take it back!

I think you are exaggerating a bit. What issue are you referring to? Is it the tab issue on the Air's? I've heard if you have a few tabs open, it crashes. Regardless, this hasn't stopped others from using their Air.

If so, you can always download 7.1 Beta 5 right now. Guides are online on how to do so.

Passing on .6 and betas.l will just wait for 7.1.

This is a very serious security vulnerability that is fixed in 7.0.6. If you do any sort of secure browsing, you need to install this update.

It's being released because this bug makes secure browsing in iOS potentially completely insecure.

Perhaps only a tiny proportion of people are still using iOS 5. Perhaps the problem doesn't exist in iOS 5. We don't know.

I don't really understand what you're saying on 7.1...that the fix will be included? Of course it will, but we don't know when it's going to arrive, and until then users are at risk!

The bug exists too in OS X 10.9.1, but not in 10.8.x, apparently. It's likely that iOS 5 also doesn't have the vulnerability.
As of now, it also appears that 7.1b5 also has the problem.

As far as iOS 7.1 I meant the fix might already be in the betas that are available to developers (otherwise it would have only made sense for Apple to put out a new beta yesterday as well).

Is there a particular way to know where the issue exists or doesn't exist?

What are the security implications for everyone who has been using devices with this bug for several months?

Were all my passwords on iOS apps like Facebook and Twitter revealed?

Could someone have stolen credit card info from my iTunes account?

These security bulletins are so vague.

I just wish for once companies would explain in plain English what precautions end users should take when a security breach had been discovered.

Are there any other improvements noticed in this update , speed , battery life etc

No, it only fixes the security problem.

Yes, all are quite possible. Any secure website could have been compromised by another site pretending to be another.

The precaution is to install 7.0.6, and as always, monitor all of your personal data for any abnormal activity.

Time for Cook to stop rolling out half baked software.
What software is secure?

If the issue (still) exists in iOS 7.1 beta 5 it would be quite surprising for Apple not to release another beta update along with the public updates.

Mountain Lion and iOS 5 are reported to not have the issue. We shall see. This issue is not acceptable. It seems as if Apple now sets a date to release new hardware. Software is preinstalled ready or not.

I believe we all prefer reboots and crashes fix first, security is important but should we start browsing web first place? Safari crashes 3-5 times a day on me ...

Security comes first in practically all cases.

This is far more dangerous than instability; it can result in loss of your secured personal and financial data. Given that the fix is to delete one single line of code, Apple would be quite foolish to wait on this.

I agree about iOS 7 perhaps not being fully ready for release when it came out, but that's pretty much unrelated to security issues which can and do exist all the time in practically all software, especially as complex as an OS, no matter how "final" it might actually be.

Anybody else having battery draining issues since installing this update?

Down to 33% after an hour or less on the internet and a 20 minute call to Apple tech support.

Battery is fine per a diagnostic test they emailed to me--knew it was, the battery doesn't just go out in 1 day.

They told me to reset to factory my phone and then restore from backup. Luckily, I have a backup from 3 days ago. Now, it will only restore to 7.0.6 again as a restore automatically includes software updates.

Can't stand when they have updates with flaws!

They are foolish of waiting so long on releasing Safari and other bugs including sudden reboots, my iphone 5s reboots while talking, charging. Air is crashing on any browser but Safari is worse.... People are not going to stay with apple long, that is foolish, I need both iPhone 5s and iPad Air for my work, not a toys to play games.
