I'll be waiting to update until 7.1 then. I wanna play with gba4iOS a little longer.
So you prefer living with a huge security problem so you can play a game? Really?
I'll be waiting to update until 7.1 then. I wanna play with gba4iOS a little longer.
Went from 12.8gb free space to 12.1gb. Big update huh?
Why not update iOS 5 (if not even earlier versions) as well then?OK well, if you're happy for anyone with a little knowledge to intercept supposedly secure communications you have with your bank or online retailers, go for it.
Myself, I'll take the fix for the enormous gaping hole in security.
The update for the older version is because the problem is so critical.
Isn't that what 7.1 is for?
So, these 7.x.x releases weren't bug fixes to you? Some were critically fixes like the one today.
I consider the complete inability to use Apples built-in web browser on their flagship tablet pretty critical. I honestly don't know why I've kept the Air, it has basically been sitting on my desk for 2 months since I can't use it for web browsing.
Passing on .6 and betas.l will just wait for 7.1.
Should it be something more behind this release? Why would apple release this two weeks before 7.1? I am tired of my iPad Air reboots and other glitches, we need 7.1 asap.
Why not update iOS 5 (if not even earlier versions) as well then?
As for 7.1, who is to say the issue hasn't already been there?
Perhaps only a tiny proportion of people are still using iOS 5. Perhaps the problem doesn't exist in iOS 5. We don't know.
I don't really understand what you're saying on 7.1...that the fix will be included? Of course it will, but we don't know when it's going to arrive, and until then users are at risk!
As far as iOS 7.1 I meant the fix might already be in the betas that are available to developers (otherwise it would have only made sense for Apple to put out a new beta yesterday as well).Perhaps only a tiny proportion of people are still using iOS 5. Is there a particular way to know where the issue exists or doesn't exist? The bug exists too in OS X 10.9.1, but not in 10.8.x, apparently. It's likely that iOS 5 also doesn't have the vulnerability.
As of now, it also appears that 7.1b5 also has the problem.

Are there any other improvements noticed in this update , speed , battery life etc
Yes, all are quite possible. Any secure website could have been compromised by another site pretending to be another. Were all my passwords on iOS apps like Facebook and Twitter revealed?
Could someone have stolen credit card info from my iTunes account?
The precaution is to install 7.0.6, and as always, monitor all of your personal data for any abnormal activity.I just wish for once companies would explain in plain English what precautions end users should take when a security breach had been discovered.
Stefan Esser (security expert) tweeted that the bug isn't in OS X 10.8.5 and so he guesses iOS 5 isn't affected.
What software is secure?Time for Cook to stop rolling out half baked software.
If the issue (still) exists in iOS 7.1 beta 5 it would be quite surprising for Apple not to release another beta update along with the public updates. Some details are here: https://www.imperialviolet.org/2014/02/22/applebug.html

No, it only fixes the security problem.

What software is secure?
It's being released because this bug makes secure browsing in iOS potentially completely insecure.
Security comes first in practically all cases.I believe we all prefer reboots and crashes fix first, security is important but should we start browsing web first place? Safari crashes 3-5 times a day on me ...
This is far more dangerous than instability; it can result in loss of your secured personal and financial data. Given that the fix is to delete one single line of code, Apple would be quite foolish to wait on this.I believe we all prefer reboots and crashes fix first, security is important but should we start browsing web first place? I agree about iOS 7 perhaps not being fully ready for release when it came out, but that's pretty much unrelated to security issues which can and do exist all the time in practically all software, especially as complex as an OS, no matter how "final" it might actually be.Mountain Lion and iOS 5 are reported to not have the issue. We shall see. This issue is not acceptable. It seems as if Apple now sets a date to release new hardware. Software is preinstalled ready or not.
