I haven't been able to get Touch ID to work on my cousin's iPhone 5 with any version of iOS. Hopefully this will help.

:D

I just installed the update, but the fingerprint sensor still won't work on my iPhone 4... :(

Edit: street.cory beat me to it.

That's because the fingerprint sensor is the screen after the oleo phobic coating wears off...

I love that Apple sets a release date and all supported devices receive an update. Other companies should focus more on release dates as oppose to long, drawn out, roll outs.

This is due to Apple's negotiations with the carriers, not really a fault of the other companies' ability to put out the updates but in their inability to put their foot down when they had the chance.

Why is updating such a nuissance?

My phone is *always* full so OTA is not an option, and iTunes *always* gives some random error making me restore my phone in the end. Sigh.

Wow. I never had a crash with 7.1, but 7.1.1 has already crashed on me.

iPhone 5S, iOS 7.1.1.

EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP) in SpringBoard.app.

Did Apple finally fix the issue for Netflix Dolby Surround on Apple TV? How about HBO Go for Charter Communications?

In related news Apple has released a security update for Mac OS X - seems that Apple is keen to get the update out the door as they seem to be willing to give 10.9.3 more time to bake before serving up:

Too bad this website makes it next to impossible to submit news to those who can actually post it.

Tried the online update, asked for my password before installing, would not accept it, tried 4 times. Connected it to my iMac and did it from there no problems. Whew........

It is a well known bug. You may have to wait until iOS 8, which will come out this fall.

Same here, iPhone 4/4s share the same problem with iPhone 5, hope they will fix it on iOS 8.

iPad 3 in recovery mode after 7.1.1 update

my iPad 3 went to recovery mode after 7.1.1 update. :(

I don't have a backup of my family photo's..

Anyone got a solution to make a backup in this situation?

(already tried MobiSaver, Wondershare Dr. Fone and TinyUmbrella)

Keeping your phone so full isn't really a good idea in general anyway.

Do we have to have a flood of these tired and inane "jokes" in every single iOS/MacOS update thread? C'mon people - you are neither original nor funny.

It's not about being original, it's just something that is part of this forums culture.

We could try staying inside the rails and being good isheep, but isn't that what we're too often accused of? "Is Safari snappier" is becoming a tradition now. ;)

No it's not, but usually Apple just randomly decides to take away your storage space filled with "Other" crap that just grows uncontrollably over time.

It's pretty hard to actually use your phone and still have storage space left if you have a 16GB phone.

When do we get a forum commenter upgrade to remove the nonsense?

Umm, you mean a moderator? We have moderators. They're just not you.

And what nonsense are you talking about? The only nonsense I see is the blind assumption that a gigantic computer company and the NSA are completely uninvolved.

It doesn't grow on its own. Most of the time it's years of conversations full of pictures in the messages app people just don't delete. It can also help to connect your phone occasionally to import photos and clear the camera roll out. If you have any large mail accounts in might be worth it to not store 40k messages on your phone.

It's pretty easy to use your phone and manage the storage, even with a 16gb phone.
