IOS7...it's child's play....or should that be childish? I have tried and tried...but I don't like it.....

I know everyone will fuss and coo how wonderful it is but I really do think it is a case of the Emperor has no clothes!!!!

Emperor has no clothes? I'd recommend rolling your hardware back to 6.1.3 ASAP, while you still can (if you haven't already done so) - get the emperor those clothes back on. ;)

IOS7? POS7 more likely

I am appalled by just how bad IOS7 really is. Designed with a broken set of crayons and filled with about the most user unfriendly menus I have ever seen.

Why are the artist music listings made so you have to scroll through EVERY ALBUM to get to the one you want? (IOS 6 had a list view)

Why is the "kill app" flip so unobvious and not working most of the time? And boy do you need it as apps freeze.

Apple - I really think you dropped the ball here.

The one guy who left was the one guy who said NO when something wasn't good enough. He also had a hand in UI and hardware design and had his nose up in everyone's business. Tim Cook has no such role at Apple. He delegates to his team and launches what they make. Ultimately, it's Tim Cook who must determine whether something is good or bad, and whether it's ready for prime time.

The problem here is that Tim Cook is a great manager, and was a good choice to lead Apple if all Apple wanted to do was maintain the status quo. Unfortunately, that's not going to cut it. This fall launch is the first under Tim Cook's watch, and look what we got. Tim Cook's strengths are managing, and he clearly doesn't know when to say NO. Unlike his eminently more talented predecessor.

I dunno, I really wouldn't call iPhones 5s/5c upsetting or iOS 7. Sure we wanted more from 5s and they could enhance iOS 7. I do not see anything wrong with this fall launch really. We should lower our expectations too, Apple can't break records on yearly basis, and technology jumps in graphics, speed, and screens are not happening that fast either. I remember I skipped purchasing 4S because it didn't really add a reason to buy over the 4.

Newsstand won't die!!

It didn't die in previous version either, but at least you could hide it. Someone will be on it, that would be for sure. It would annoy them too.

The new "Slide to unlock" screen is ok, except i dunno why those words are there, its nit list you have to slide in that spot. Lime out previous Notification you could slide down from anywhere on top previous.

The new one look better (full screen finally) on the iPad, but the "slide to Turn off" screen now kook ugly as hell, just gone to two bars.

So there are peeves, and there are goods, and ya, i know this is only the first iOS 7, so may ie Apple are trying things different to see how many people will howl.

Weather data has disappeared from Notification Centre after I turned off location services. Can anyone confirm that location services need to be on for weather notifications?

Yes. How else would it be able to tell the weather in your location lol.

But why does it need my location? Simply use the first city in my Weather app as default and pull the data from there. If I change location to say, London, I'd simply make London my default location in the app. Seems an unnecessary use of battery to me.

Random question.... is it me or are there different shades of blue for imessages in the text app? Is there a reason why that is? (Or do I just need to go to eye doctors b/c im seeing things lol)

Updated lastnight & I'm digging the Windows 7 look and feel.
I like how the Safari menu at top is transparent to see the webpage scrolling behind it & the tile view when you click the Home button twice to see which apps are running is also cool.

Only think I hate is why is there so much white.
I had to turn down my brightness a bit but I guess that will save some battery life.

How do I downgrade?

Steve Jobs is rolling in his grave!! The entire iOS team should be fired for this piece of crap. It looks like a junior design team from 1984 IBM designed it. I might switch to the Lumia 1020 if I can't downgrade

You have terrible taste if you think the previous iOS design was more sophisticated than this.

I have to disagree with you there. The previous design is much more sophisticated and nuanced. iOS6 = tailored wool suit. iOS7 = brightly colored track suit. At least design-wise. The added function and features are great, just not as great because the new design makes the os harder to use.

I agree with you.

I was showing the iOS7 to someone who blurted out "it looks like Windows!"

Yeah, I definitely see some "Aero Glass" in there. My how things have changed. When Jobs was around, Apple looked like Apple. As soon as he hands it off to someone else when he passes, Apple is now copying Windows even though Windows is a sinking ship now. Maybe Apple is the new Microsoft? Look at Mavericks. It's changed from AFP to SMB2 for default networking. What's next? Adding a registry to OSX to make everything get slower over time as you add more programs?

From a historical perspective, some of the comments didn’t age well.

Nah they still hold up. iOS 7's design was pretty bland and soulless, and nowadays everyone still unanimously hates oversimplified icons and logos. Case in point just look at the backlash for Petco and Pringles oversimplifying their iconic logos that everyone loved.
