Macrumors, maybe you could put the warning about the issues right at the top of the article and clearly warn people not to go near the update right now.

Apparently no one at Apple owns an iPhone and tested this update out first. Well, now every iPhone has become an iPod.

Mine works fine on ATT, Touch ID ok too but yeah sux for those people affected. Apple software QA downward spirals.

Consider that the iOS 8 GM was issued in mid-August to coincide with volume production of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. 10 million iPhones preloaded with the OS for a mid-September release don't just magically appear overnight. It's not like Apple stood still after they issued the 8.0 GM and waited until the bug reports started coming before getting to work on the fixes.

As others have said, this update addresses the bugs that Apple already knew about when iOS 8.0 went gold. The next update will address the bugs that are discovered post-release.

FWIW, in my experience so far iOS 8.0 has been a lot more stable than iOS 7.0.

Well put and I agree with your opinion that 8.0 is more stable than the 7.0 release...course they are both .0 releases and are something to be avoided if you don't like buggy software.

So are the service signal and/or TouchID issues only on the new (6 and 6 Plus) phones or are people experiencing them on other phones as well?

What is this "system"? And how do icons look "dumb"? They are just icons nothing more. Skype works fine as it did before.

There is no need to change icons, specifically when people may have several devices with cyst 6, 7 where the design change makes it annoying. Skype stopped supporting system 6 for several weeks forcing people to migrate to system 7.
