I guess I'm a bit more cynical...shouldn't these things have been in the original 8.0 release? Why did the process break down so badly that made it necessary to release an update so soon after a major release?

Consider that the iOS 8 GM was issued in mid-August to coincide with volume production of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. 10 million iPhones preloaded with the OS for a mid-September release don't just magically appear overnight. It's not like Apple stood still after they issued the 8.0 GM and waited until the bug reports started coming before getting to work on the fixes.

As others have said, this update addresses the bugs that Apple already knew about when iOS 8.0 went gold. The next update will address the bugs that are discovered post-release.

FWIW, in my experience so far iOS 8.0 has been a lot more stable than iOS 7.0.

This one is easy, no process broke down. These were bug's that weren't addressed prior to the 8.0 code being frozen, but probably already identified and being worked on.

After the 8.0 freeze, they started working on this .0.1 release (probably well before the 8.0 release) - with the critical thing being extensive testing to make sure their new fixes don't break something else. I doubt there is anything in this update that was identified after the 8.0 release...that will be in the next release...JMHO..

Holy Moley! An update that is 1.94 GB in size? Download time will be 40 hours due to the slowdown in WIFI the update to 8.0 caused in the first place.

Really? Its becoming really evident Apple isnt testing these updates. Supplemental fix this afternoon or tinight has to come or else Apple has an absolute nightmare on their hands.

CRAP! I am in the middle of downloading the update on my phone and now I see this!!

CAN I STOP THE UPDATE??????

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Nice, an update that fixes a bunch of low to medium importance things and then breaks two major importance things.

For those that updated and lost server/touchID did you perform an OTA update or a full update via iTunes?
