Gonna try 8.1.2 on my Air 2 and 6+, then wait to do the wife's iPad 4. Like others, I was not aware of a ringtone issue. The primary issue I have is I had to turn off LTE on the 6+ - otherwise it signal hunts, and because it insists on LTE/4G it won't switch to a better 3G signal. And I live in New Mexico, many places don't have LTE. Lovely to get a NO SIGNAL when 3G is available.

Oddly, not a problem with my Air 2. And no, I don't expect this release to fix the 6+. :)

Perhaps I need to reset my device, or try exchanging it?

Perhaps try resetting it. A coworker of mine also has a 6+ and hasn't mentioned many problems. The animations aren't buttery smooth like you'd expect but otherwise no complaints here.

Yeah... the thing about opinions is, there is no such thing as a right or wrong one. You agree or disagree...

Your is not an opinion. It's based on a wrong assumption.
The release is not about a single fix. It's written on the release notes.
Period.

Right.... "bug fixes" but we will only state that a ringtone bug was fixed. No proof of any other changes, no API changes per the developer docs, and its standard wording that is used with any software update from Apple (i.e. "update contains improvements to usability, stability and security."). Also, again, opinions can never be wrong -- if they're based off of something wrong, you still can only disagree with it.

I did last night (erasing all the settings, not content), and also upgraded to 8.1.2. Not sure which helped, but things seem to be better in my limited testing so far. Still not anywhere near as good as my iPad Air 2, especially in Safari (at least it's holding two tabs most of the time now), but there are a lot less of the more noticeable severe glitches so far. Hopefully it doesn't erode over time again, but I'm really looking forward to getting the 6S next year. If my iPad Air 2 is any indication, the 6S with 2GB of RAM is going to be the iPhone of the ages. Hopefully that crazy new camera module also pans out.

The release note is about bugs fixes. You don't need any proof.
It's above 20 Mb. It's clearly not a single bug fix.

I'm still surprised that in this day and age, that the iPhone still only comes with 1gb of ram. However the performance so far is on par with my Note 3.

Agree to disagree, that's fine. Many more pieces of evidence that there were NO other changes in the release then the single ringtone bug fix.. but done arguing with a hard head like you.

There is not a single piece of evidence, about your "theory", but you keep arguing instead of just say: ok I was wrong.....

Oh, you mean none of the below occurred?

  1. No list of other bugs fixed except "bug fixes" in the software update description.
  2. No iOS 8.1.2 release notes to developers, which means no API changes or behavior changes.
  3. No user findings of any kind other then the ring tone fix.

There is FAR more evidence that it was only the ringtone fix then your delusion.

And yet it would be much simpler for Apple to then not include the piece of "bug fixes" in the description rather than pointlessly and (at least as far as regulations and ethics and the like would be concerned) just lie about it if that was really the case.

Absence of proof is not proof of absence.

This.
But he won't admit it.

"Purchased ringtone issue" is the most important bug in IOS 8 surely after apple watch computability issues and both should be considered before fixing Safari crash issue.....

I wonder if they will save current market share in the upcoming years,.!
I think the next year would be the perfect chance for new Companies with new softwares because both IOS and Android are completely and totally crap

Now that this iOS release has been in the wild for a longer amount of time has anyone with an iPhone 6+ 'in the main' experienced any further Pro's and Con's with their phone ?
