I have started the Apple Music trial, the only thing I am interested in are the radio stations and the ability to create an artist radio station which I felt was not of high quality on the original Itunes Radio. However with Apple Music it seems that the artists radio stations are much better and serve a wider variety of songs and are not repeating the same songs over and over again as they were before, my question is if you end the Apple Music trial do the stations go back to the original low quality or have they been revampled regardless if you are an Apple Music subscriber or just a free Itunes user?

I'm a big fan of movie soundtracks and the Hans Zimmer artist station is what I have tried.

So, Julie is on air now but I don't think it's live. She just said what she said yesterday about meeting Zane Lowe for the first time in a restaurant. Am I going mad? It can't be live can it?

Some people said they are repeating some parts.

In iTunes on the Mac?

What is the exact process you follow? I search for a song in "Radio" that is not yet in my music library, and then I want to add it to a playlist. That option doesn't exist though - I have to first add it to "My Music". From there, I can move it into a playlist.

On the iPad, when I find a song, I can immediately move it to a playlist, and it is automatically added to "My Music".

Im with MentalFloss - Playlists are pretty bad.

I just turned on Music in the Cloud on iTunes on the iMac. What a mess. I now have bits of albums incorrectly matched (that were previously correct in iTunes Match) all over the place. Art work is wrong. I have a Foals album with the Foals artist and track tags, but Sheryl Crow as the album cover. When you play the tracks, it's Sheryl Crow despite the Artist & Track names. It's a total mess. I added a bunch of albums to my phone that I already had on the iMac because iTunes wasn't available yesterday - what a mistake that was, I now have duplicate tracks all over my iMac.

I don't even know how to fix this mess.

edit: I gave up. Kept my old iTunes Library as backup and am using a fresh library for Apple Music, on which I deleted all my content to get it fresh and clean. Now whenever I find an album that is not available from Apple Music, I copy it from my backup to fill the gap. The downside is I have to go through and manually add all the albums I want in My Music rather than benefiting from the Match feature.

I am curious if on iOS devices the music is truly streamed or does it cache on the device when played? Can someone please address this?

Thank you,

Dan

You can see what's going to play next in a playlist, rearrange them, delete songs from said playlist.

You have to click that icon on the right hand side when you have the player open. It's three horizontal lines.

I swear that it wouldn't let me delete the songs from up next before. Now that I am trying it again ( same as before, via swiping) it works. Maybe on some conditions it doesn't let you.

I had an artist's albums on shuffle actually and that's when it wouldn't let me delete an upcoming song.

Now that I have "shuffle all songs" on, it lets me.

The rest of my post still stands sadly.

Well, it's the kind of "fake streaming" which is also used e.g. for YouTube, i.e. the song is pre-loaded first, and then it starts playing when enough of the song is available. In the meantime, it will continue downloading the song, so by the time you have listed to the first 20 seconds of the song, you might have the full song on your device already. Of course, it will depend on bandwidth availability, length of the songs, etc.

The selection of genres and artists with the dots when starting with this service is absolutely not working on iPhone 5s and 4s. You can't tap some dots with genres/artists to read/change the size or remove them.

I'm missing also an offline feature for your favorite genre/artist station. I will try it for the three months but i already decided that especially the missing option to set a station/playlist with one click offline is a must have feature for me and that is missing. Therefore i will stick with the free MixRadio app and hopefully soon with a MixRadio+ subscription service for 4/5 dollar/euro a month to have unlimited skips, no bannner (and maybe more then 4 offline playlists).

Unfortunately services like Slacker Radio Plus (which is similar to MixRadio) and Rdio Select, Pandora One and Rhapsody unRadio are not available in the Netherlands.

What's with the DND sign on my iMessage thread? DND shows up for one friend but none of the others some of which I know have DND on. Weird, ideas?

SO how much more space on my (NOT REALLY more like 12)16GB iPhone 6 do I loose to software and Apps I DO NOT WANT do I lose this time?!?!?>!>!>!>!>!>!>!>!>!

How do I upload my music? I turned on icloud music library in the iphone and chose not to fuse them together. Then I activated ir in the Mac but it doesn't seem to upload my songs like iTnes Match nor I see the option to fuse the libraries together although it seems they are by the looks of things.

But as long as it's not at the same time you can alternate devices as much as you want right ?

Remember there is a limit to the number of iOS devices using the same iTunes account? Like 5 or 6? I believe the same limit would apply as long as it isn't streaming at the same time.

I am on the 8.4 public beta and was getting the Update Requested... message all day yesterday. Finally deleted my profile and restarted the phone, twice, and it still says Update Requested... So am I stuck forever?

EDIT: It looks like force quitting the Settings app seems to have resolved it.

Ha, first use of the music app and it crashes! Why when you click on the similar artist circles does nothing happen? Nice one Apple ballsed up again!

Its a aac 256kbs, which in 99.5% of listening conditions, equipment and people can't be distinguished from the god damn master tape.

Getting 320mpbs aac or a digital dump of the master tape at the highest sampling rate won't change listening equipment, listening conditions or people's ears.

That's not even taking into account the ridiculous amount of processing music goes through before you even get it.
These days, there's even more processing than before and the digitally modified sound, with very little harmonics, is easier to encode than ever at a lower bitrate.

If they played live miked classical music, or jazz with no further processing, a higher level of encoding might matter. But, for what they're playing, I highly doubt it makes any difference at all no matter the bitrate.

For people that care that much about supreme quality for the genres where it actually matters and have the equipment/room to play it in, you can still buy uncompressed music and play it on your super duper system.

Truth! Everyone talks about "compression" not realizing that word can refer to two things. Mainly dynamic range compression that mostly happens during the mastering process. Most modern music has next to no dynamics and that is a bigger sin than compressing the file down. In many cases the quality of a compressed audio file is plenty for most environments and gear.

Well, adding Apple Music songs to playlists in iTunes is even more of a mess than on the iPad. Sorry, Apple, I love Apple Music already, but the playlist handling is just effed up. On the iPad, songs that I add keep vanishing from playlists. On iTunes, I have to first save songs to "My Music" before I can add them to a playlist (which should be a one-step operation, as is the case on the iPad). Either way, ultra-inconvenient.

Quickly creating playlists for Apple Music is a fairly important feature. Right now, that just doesn't work.

I must say. It's rather confusing to use. I also fail to understand the point of iTunes Store since music I add from iTunes music goes into my iTunes library and can be saved offline. Any know what the point/difference is???

I think I understand the format now. The three main DJ's have TWO stints per day. (All times in BST and 24-hour format as I live in the UK.) For Zane his first show of the day is 1700, for Julie, it's 2000 and for Ebro it's 2300. All these shows are live but the second stints (0500, 0800 and 1100 for Zane, Julie and Ebro respectively) are not live, hence why we are hearing repeats at time.

I understand why they are doing this, because in some countries when Zane's first stint is broadcast, it might be like 0300 or 0400 in the morning. Same for the other DJ's too.

I think that's right!

EDIT:

And that's why all of the three main DJ's only have one playlist at the minute. After their first stint shows are over, their second playlist will be added. So Zane's will be added later today, in a few hours.
