In terms of "reliability", which is better

a) Update my iPhone 5 to iOS 8, do a backup, restore that backup with my future iPhone 6

b) just do a backup from current iOS?

I'm doing a backup with whatsapp and its data only, in case for some reason I can't restore my chats, media etc. from the iCloud whatsapp backup.

Downloaded and install successfully on my 5S, via iTunes. Took around 20 mins.

First thing I tried out: I filled out login fields in Safari using the 1password extension. Very nice!

Explain this to me please. I have been using 1Password for over a year and it's the best thing ever. I noticed it updated to use TouchID but it wasn't working for me. I also was not getting any prompts for autofill using it. Do I need to activate something?

Thanks!

That's the major reason I'm getting the iPhone 6 (I have a Nexus 4 and can't do WiFi calling with T-Mobile). I could do WiFi calling with other Android or Windows Mobile phones but where's the fun in that? Older iPhones will work too but I like a 4.7" screen size.

So soon I'll stop being cut off for the entire day (unless I venture out of my hospital dungeon).

I know that, find myself turning off the cellular, just going WIFI, missing calls, though nightshift doesn't present that many- but the option of WIFI calls will at least give my wife quicker access in the event of an emergency at home. You known which phone you answer faster- her ring tone or the hospital wireless.

well, the keyboard is nice. the widgets are a VERY nice addition.. Other than that, until yosemite is out, it's just ok i guess.

The extensions are a huge deal for me. I am a heavy Evernote user, and a heavy 1Password user, and the extensions mean I can both clip from Safari directly, and fill passwords with 1Password directly in Safari (which iCloud Keychain still fails to do about 1/2 the time, and doesn't support multiple logins for the same site). Its awesome.

"preparing iPhone for software update" and the beach ball... oh boy...

"application not responding" in the dock...

and the iTunes audio quit that i was using...

Haha yepp. Pretty sure 8.0. I remember reading about the ios8 beta for apple TV I forgot what the updates were (minimal I believe) but I wonder if there are more in the official release

Haven't downloaded yet but it is version 7.0 (up from 6.2). Third gen only but 2nd gen was updated with 6.2.1 (probably a final release with bug fixes).

apple tv-update now loading.. (3 min)
updating.. (40 min: what is going on there!?)
finished.
and..

it's version 7.0 and it looks FLAT! ^^

What connection speeds have you guys got? I have 10mb and I'm at 22hrs remaining

OTA on the phone, home WIFI, ETA now just dropped from like 70 mins to 15. Oh back up to like 20 mins, for the download.

At these download speeds, I'll have iOS 8 about the time Yosemite ships. iTunes is saying it will be 8 hours.

congratulations my fellow iphone 4S users......you have just rendered your device irrelevant with this update. I dont have a choice, my employer supplies the phone and IT requires it to be on the latest firmware, so I jumped on the bandwagon a little earlier and installed the GM.

ever since then, i want to throw the phone against a wall or as far as i can throw it. you think 7 was laggy and crap on 4S? wait till you see this.

also - buggy as hell.....i cant believe they would release this as GM itll be 8.0.14 by Christmas at the rate theyll have to squish bugs

another new iOS same posts on here

its slow, it says 6 hours left, it frozze while downloading

here is a tip, servers can only handle so much traffic so wait instead till the rush is over

Wow! That took a looooong time. The preparing update phase and the installation phase are the longest I have seen yet... and this is on an iPad Air and iPhone 5S.

iPhone 5 all done. I think this should have been iOS 7.5 though. When I unlocked my phone, nothing looked different. In reality, apart from a few new features, not much has changed. The predictive thing in messaging was annoying. Not sure if that was new or not, but it was on for the first time and I immediately had to turn it off. Too distracting, not to mention taking up space where there is already too little space.
