My download was done at 1:20 Eastern, the preparing updates took about 20 minutes and then I got the phone restart with the little status line which made it about 1/4 way then the phone restarted and I was back on 7.1.2??? In the process of doing it all again.

You have to love a 1.1GB download requiring a minimum of 5.7GB of space?!

So it needs 4.6 of free space to unpack the new OS prior to installing it?

I'm mostly anxious to get Wi-Fi Calling. I spend more than half of the day underground or in buildings with little to no cell service. Will finally be able to communicate with the few contacts I have who still use the wrong phone.

IM in that position, work in a building were we have great WiFI access, but cellular signal stinks, dependent on you provider you might- and thats a big MIGHT get out.

That's the major reason I'm getting the iPhone 6 (I have a Nexus 4 and can't do WiFi calling with T-Mobile). I could do WiFi calling with other Android or Windows Mobile phones but where's the fun in that? Older iPhones will work too but I like a 4.7" screen size.

So soon I'll stop being cut off for the entire day (unless I venture out of my hospital dungeon).

Downloaded and install successfully on my 5S, via iTunes. Took around 20 mins.

First thing I tried out: I filled out login fields in Safari using the 1password extension. Very nice!

Servers very bizarre. iPhone downloaded in minutes and is now installing. iPad still showing 3 hours, then 2 hours, then back to 3....

iOS 7 was the 'biggest change to iOS' since iPhone's arrival
iOS 8 is the biggest release since the launch of the App Store

hmm..

maybe iOS 9 will be the biggest release since iOS 3.

..installing now.

Two questions for anyone who has tried it. Is it any slower or faster than iOS 7? Does the Pangu jailbreak work on it?

I've had the GM on my non-retina iPad mini for a week, and its not exactly slower, but it freezes and crashes a lot. Typing has a significant lag. I had to turn off Quick Type.

On my 32 GB 5S, its pretty smooth, but there are noticeable UI bugs, sometimes text gets stuck behind the clock the at the top, and there's a weird pixellated shadow image that flashes on the screen when unlocking. I've had a few crashes too.

mine went down to 19 min then got the error that it couldn't be downloaded...retrying now and it just says "downloading (1 hr remaining)..." What do we expect when everyone and their brother is downloading at the same time? On the other hand, Apple and their endless amount of cash should have more servers built able to handle this.
