so if I already updated my 5S to the 9.0.1 release, tomorrow when I get my 6S will I still be able to restore from backup?

Maybe if you update your 6s to 9.0.1 first, then do a restore and use your 5s backup...? (Set up your 6s as a new iPhone first)
Hm, I don't remember the sequence of how things happen when activating a new phone, so not sure how that will work.

iOS 9.0.1 is a minor software update that was released one week after the public launch of iOS 9. It includes several bug fixes, including a fix for an issue that prevented some users from upgrading their iPhones to iOS 9 because of an unresponsive "Slide to Upgrade" dialog.

That's my favorite iOS 9.0.1 feature: Not having to restore my iPhone from backup during the upgrade process.

You'll have the two options to set up your 6s as a new iPhone or to use a backup. Set it up as a new iPhone, then update to 9.0.1. Once it's updated, restore it and this time use the 5s backup. That should avoid any conflicts.

For some it's already 25th, for many it isn't.

Good luck with this update, people are already reporting in the apple communities that their iPad Air/Air 2 and iPad minis now can't connect to WPA2/WPA2 enterprise wifi connections.

My wife upgraded her iPad Air to 9.0.1 and hasn't been able to connect to our home wifi ever since...my iPhone and iPad mini are on iOS 9 and connected to the home wifi just fine.

I'll stick to iOS 9 until these clowns get their act together.

Most of the feedback in the various 9.0.1 threads seems positive or at least no worse than 9.0. There are always people with issues of one type or another with petty much any update.

haha I laugh at those that always have to download the new OS release right away when it comes out. i work in IT...never ever update any software release until a few months or 1-2 updates later.

Good thing the first thing I'll be doing is getting 9.1 PB and then restoring from that back up

Installing on my 6Plus. I'll let you know if it blows up. I found 9.0 had weird situations where it was as if my touchscreen wasn't reading my touch unless I pressed super hard. Really weird and unlike any other IOS touch related issue. It wasn't a lag issue, it was a "I'm not reading you unless you press down harder". I'll see if 9.01 helps that along.

I'm going to download the ipsw tonight so I'll be good to go in the morning. Don't want to have to worry about the servers being loaded up.

I think the new Apple news app in IOS 9 is great. It combines all your favorite news sources and puts in a an easy to read package with big bold font and no commercials. That's pretty cool. Matt Drudge is going to start to worry...

Does Apple really support XP? I'm sure that was released in 2001!

EDIT: Apparently they don't support it now on XP.

Actually they still do. On Sept 16 they released an update (12.1.3) to Windows XP and Vista 32 bit and 64 bit to support iOS 9.
My nephew is running 32 bit vista and is now able to sync his iPhone 5C on iOS 9. My snow leopard and lion computers no longer can support iOS 9 even though they were released long after XP.

35MB if done over Wi-Fi. otherwise it will be a 1.84Gig download via usb

It's interesting Microsoft ended support for *their* os, yet Apple still has iTunes for it.

See Apple cares enough about compatibility for other platforms, but not it's own.

Not some most of the world like China India today is the 25th. The world does revolve around one country America but maybe is does for Americans because they never know what's happening outside of the own little world do they.
