All those folks who watched too much Sci-Fi thought that setting the date to 1970 would transport them there. LOL. :D

Apple today released iOS 9.3 to the public, marking the third significant update to the iOS 9 operating system since it launched in September of 2015. iOS 9.3 has been in testing since January 11 with new features, refinements, and bug fixes added throughout the beta testing period.

iOS 9.3 is available immediately to all iOS 9 users as an over-the-air update. It can also be downloaded through iTunes on the Mac and PC.

As a major update to the iOS 9 operating system, iOS 9.3 introduces several new functions, important bug fixes, and feature refinements. Perhaps the biggest change is the introduction of Night Shift mode, designed to reduce the amount of blue light iOS users are exposed to in the evening by shifting the iPhone or iPad display to a warmer (yellower) color spectrum.

Was reading the list and feeling really disappointed. Nothing I even remotely want to use - and then it hit me. Siri (Finnish). Finally! I can actually give it a try. I can consider CarPlay and Apple Watch to be possibly worth something. So far they've been 100% useless. I'm not saying I'm going to run to buy the Watch even now but at least now it makes more sense.

Features I'm still missing:
- touch id protection for photos
- touch id protection for messages
- (same for whatsapp, but that's not really Apple's job)
- have iBooks sync what I'm reading and where I am so I can read a book on iPad, close it and continue it from exactly the same place on my iPhone and then come back and keep going.

The security features are stuff I've heard from multiple customers. I don't really need it but they do. The fact that Apple aded that support for Notes means they are slowly getting it. Actually a better way (in my opinion) would be a guest mode you could enable if you let someone borrow your phone for a sec - same way it's in Chromebooks. Still, the ability to lock down apps that contain personal information wouldn't be a bad idea.

I am interested to hear any reports from 4s users. I'm still jailbroken on 8.4 on my 4s, only because of f.lux. If it's smooth, I may give that up.

I am still on Beta 7 on my 4s. Maybe I update in the next days.

But I don't know how it worked with an older OS, because I bought it with iOS 9.1. So I can't say if there is a big difference. I tuned of some things to make it smoother.

It's working well enough for me, but I use that phone only sometimes for a second SIM card. It's a replacement for the 6 that I am using now for that purpose, because I still did not manage to sell it until I get the 6s Plus.

Ooh snap! This update bricked my iP6+.

I have never jailbroken it. I have never had it repaired (nor has it needed repair). It's a well cared for, plain-vanilla iP6+ and has only ever had just a minimal of apps install via the Apple App Store.

After the iOS 9.3 install it said a new carrier profile was available and asked if I wanted to install that too. I said yes. (I'm on Sprint.) In settings I see that the VPN turns on for about 5 seconds and then off for 5 seconds and repeats.

Now I can't connect to the internet via any app. No internet means no Apple ID server. No Apple ID server means no iCloud. No iCloud means no way to turn off Find My iPhone. No way to turn off Find My iPhone means no way to restore the backup.

Of course, this also means that my Apple Watch is bricked too.
I have an iPhone 6 Plus, with At&T. And an Apple Watch. Anyone have problems with this setup after updating? I don't want my stuff bricked.

Or immediately if you've been running all the Public Betas up through 7, and am satisfied - as I have and am.
Not to dismiss your confidence in software updates after having run all the PBs, but mishaps like this are why some people would rather wait it out a little before doing updates in general. But we definitely owe it to trailblazers and early adopters not unlike yourself, to root out potential pitfalls. No sarcasm intended.

Not everybody has the time and energy to deal with unexpected hiccups.

Updated on 6S+ no detected issues after 12 hours of use. I will say the download was slower than molasses on a winters day.

Just upgraded and found a great improvement to the Music app. Apple has wisely removed the ability to rate a song using their star system. I'm so glad because now I can't rate new songs I listen to on my iPhone. I can only do that on iTunes. I can 'heart' them and of course Apple knows what I really want to do. Removing a capability and limiting me is always something I appreciate. Way to go guys!
