Damned if you do, damned if you don't. People complain about bugs with a lack of updates, then people complain with too many.

Nonsense.

These updates add zero new functionality. And bugs should mostly be caught at the internal testing stage.

Apple software is nosediving in standards. People like you making excuses for a trillion dollar company that wants to save money by cutting back on QC will do nothing to help.

I’m glad of the updates, they are needed and yes iOS 13 should have been better at lau, in fact it should have been better than this version, but this is the second time an iOS 13 update has wiped all my open Safari tabs on my iPad, not on Apple, stop doing that.
after an iOS update Safari tabs are going to reload in ANY case.
This is not an iOS 13 issue.

you clearly don't know how software development works.
This has literally nothing to do with QC.
iOS 13 added tons of new functionalities, and these updates are fixing bugs.
Apple is doing what they are supposed to do. But being an android user maybe you are not accustomed to that.

It could simply be that now that automatic updates is in place, Apple is moving to a more KanBan style release model.

The Facebook app has been on a weekly release model for years. Is that an indicator of quality or process?

Facebook needs to update on a weekly basis to exploit the latest laws and loopholes for its dodgy business model.

Is that someone you want Apple taking inspiration from?

Why are you talking about iOS 13? It's now 13.2.3. How many new features did 13.2 add, because iOS 13 bugs should have been fixed by 13.1 at the latest.

Apple isn't taking ANY inspiration from Facebook.
Apple is fixing bugs. Period.
Fixing bugs can't be a bad things.

Why did Apple release the bugs in the first place?

The non-existent time between developer releases and public releases proves Apple has given up on the idea of only making stable releases public and will push any garbage out ASAP.

People like you making excuses for a trillion dollar company that wants to save money by cutting back on QC will do nothing to help.

People who perpetuate the myth that Apple should be releasing bug-free software because the company has piles of money don't help the situation either. That just demonstrates how little they know about software development.

Also, people explaining how software development works to other people who clearly have no clue isn't typically referred to as "making excuses". You're welcome to call it whatever you wish, but you're just outing yourself in front of those who know what they're talking about. Kind of like if I tried to carry on an intelligent conversation about brain surgery with brain surgeons.

Should have been fixed? Why ?
They are continuously working in iOS. And that’s exactly what I want from Apple.
No one is pointing a gun on you to update. Wait iOS 13.3 or even 13.5 if you prefer.

Apple isn’t releasing bugs.
Apple is releasing software. There is not such a thing like a bugs free software.
They could have done better, for sure. But they are actively working to improve things.
I like it.

So presumably you have some experience in software development. Well so do I. But regardless, Apple is not in the same situation. They don't need to release a new iOS to meet some sales target, since iOS is not sold as a standalone product. Yes things are complicated and it's not just a case of throwing money at it. There are clearly significant managerial failings at Apple too.

If you really think recent Apple software is fine and they don't need to improve then I feel bad for whatever software development you're part of.

I hope they fix an issue with the Reminders notifications which I have set the banner style as Temporary and after some time it changes to Persistent and even the icon for the Reminders app in notifications disappears

Did I use the word “reload” at any point in my post? No, I didn’t, I used the word wiped, as in closed, as in not there any more to reload them, all the tabs where removed, for the second time in a update to 13, never happened that I can remember from any updates before that in a previous version of iOS, so yes, it is a iOS 13 issue, or at least an issue on how they are doing updates for this version.

The update went well for my iPhone Pro 11.

However, my iPad Air 2 froze during update (black screen, about halfway on the progress bar). After seeing no movement for about 45 minutes, I had to do a hard reset and then restore/update...then a hard reset to get things going. I do not recall having an update issue with my iPad Air 2 before.

Except that they unfortunately do given that there are new devices that are tied to new software. And, even that aside, the general public (as in the vast majority who really doesn't know any better or care) expects something new and shiny as often as possible and gets upset (in one way or another) if it doesn't come soon enough.

The average user doesn't read Macrumors and they don't care. They get a notification a week or so after the update comes out and just hit "update tonight" and their phone updates while they sleep.

I would bet the majority of them have ‘Automatic Updates’ turned on and just get a pop up saying their phone has been updates.

I remember when I could read through the comments on an article and found useful and relevant comments about the content of the article instead of irrelevant rants about Apple blah blah... oh wait.

Anyway anyone running into issues after this update? My iPhone 11 Pro and iPad Mini 4 are out of sync again when it comes to Calendar alarms. I’ll snooze a reminder on one and it only reappears on one or the other randomly.

It’s fixed the background app killing issue for me. Bonus that now I can tap the field in reminders to start a new reminder vs tapping the “+ new reminder.” I know it’s a minor friction point but it was really bugging me.

The average user isn't aware of updates, they just turn on auto-update and it updates while they're asleep.
Even in the "olden days" there were plenty of people who were having all kinds of issues.
iOS 12 was really horrible for people, right?

And back with Steve Jobs there were no issues like, let's say people installing an update which then just wiped their data, right?

Back in the day, we had many less issues, including PRICING.

When you charge people this much for a damn phone, best believe expectations are going to go up.
Under Jobs, we paid HALF the amount for the best phone.

At the same time the phone in those days was half as much of a device that it is today (and had many times less variations and consumers that used it), if we are to use those kinds of analogies.

All these bugs on iOS 13 and I'm rocking iOS 12.4.1 on my 8+. This is EXACTLY why you don't update when a new iOS comes out. You wait until about 8-10 months later once its more refined.
To be fair there are many many people who are and have been doing just fine with iOS 13 as well.

I appreciate updates, but the amount of them for iOS13 is getting a little ridiculous. The average user doesn't want to keep having their phone update all the time.

Edit: Since September 24th they've released 8 updates for iOS13. That's just too many.

The UPDATES are not a concern. You should be thankful for the updates, I am.

The concern should be about the bugs that the updates are fixing. Why so many bugs sneaking by?
