same hereFor once I saw the update right away. Strange things are happening in the universe.
me tooI normally hold off for a few days, but when I see “...the update fixes a vulnerability that was actively exploited”, I update immediately. Downloading now.
On my iPad 10.5 it was just 190 MB.4.5GB download on my iPad 10.5. That must be a heck of an exploit.
Maybe I just downloaded the exploit! On my iPad 10.5 it was just 190 MB.
It was less than 200 MB on my iPad 10.5 running 14.4.1. Maybe you were still on 14.4.0 and couldn't use a delta image to upgrade?4.5GB download on my iPad 10.5. That must be a heck of an exploit.
😅Maybe I just downloaded the exploit!The pad was up-to-date...curious.
Ahhh, no. Through iTunes. That must be it. Usually, though they are only ~2GB.😅
Did you download the OTA update (as I did)?
Just did 14.4.1 the other day. Haven't noticed anything funny the last few days, but something must have been out of whack. It was less than 200 MB on my iPad 10.5 running 14.4.1. Maybe you were still on 14.4.0 and couldn't use a delta image to upgrade?
I think they are holding it due to pressure from Google & Facebook the ultimate tracking snoops.I think they won't release iOS 14.5 until their April 2021 presentation--if there's any!
... and then five minutes later you start posting how crappy 14.5 is because it's not ready. Comments like yours make me wonder why I spend time reading crappy messages 🤬Just release 14.5 already
If only they would fix their own instead of burying the mentions on page 3 of a searchWhat would Apple do without Google fixing all their security vulnerabilities?
It's a webkit update, which means that Chrome, Edge and Safari probably have nothing to do, which is different than a browser update. And whether the entire phone gets updated or not is irrelevant. The salient word is "updated."This is really just a browser update, it's just that apple designed it so that the whole OS/phone has to be updated.
It's odd of them to release an out-of-cycle update--it isn't Patch Tuesday.
If it's a web security thing, then why not a Safari or a macOS update?
Apple today released iOS and iPadOS 14.4.2, minor security updates that come close to three weeks after the release of iOS/iPadOS 14.4.1 and more than a month after the iOS/iPadOS 14.4 updates.

The iOS and iPadOS 14.4.2 updates can be downloaded for free and the software is available on all eligible devices over-the-air in the Settings app. To access the new software, go to Settings > General > Software Update.
According to Apple's release notes, the software provides an important security fixes and should be installed by all users. A security support document says that the update fixes a vulnerability that was actively exploited. Apple has fixed the issue by improved management of object lifetimes.
Apple has also released iOS and iPadOS 12.5.2, security updates that are available for older devices.

I was just thinking the same thing. If it's a web security thing, then why not a Safari or a macOS update?
It’s pretty amazing that an iPhone 5S from 2013 is still being supported with security updates. Hopefully they support the HomePod for 7+ years.
Under 200mb on my 3rd gen iPad Pro. 😁4.5GB download on my iPad 10.5. That must be a heck of an exploit.
yes and all the android users whinge so much about apple. Lucky if they get 1 update
Been updating my iOS devices for 11 years now, no bricked devices yet. 🤔They get browser updates from the Google Play Store separate from OS updates so better method since it's smaller, quicker and without downtime from rebooting or bricking like the guy above who ended up in recovery mode. That's something people are pushing for Apple to adopt.
Haha! Mine's bigger than yours!Under 200mb on my 3rd gen iPad Pro. 😁

It feels as though they'll be up to 14.11.0 before they're finished with this one, or they'll just stop for the next major version, and 14.x will be buggy forever.Trust me, it's not ready. Seeing this 14.4.2 makes me think there will likely be a 14.5B6 next week, if not sooner.
