Right. It patches a remote execution vulnerability, but "this update isn't really needed". <sigh>If you don’t have a Touch ID phone like most of us this update isn’t really needed
That's what happens when you read one sentence of a two sentence update descriptionRight. It patches a remote execution vulnerability, but "this update isn't really needed". <sigh>
You got it backwards, mate.I don’t even get why the “unlock iphone with apple watch” feature was implemented on touch id iphones in the first place. It wasn’t necessary to have it on those devices. It was only necessary on face id iphones because the user’s face isn’t recognized while wearing a mask. No problem unlocking touch id iphones while wearing a mask.
Now you can wear a mask on your finger and it will work!I don’t even get why the “unlock iphone with apple watch” feature was implemented on touch id iphones in the first place. It wasn’t necessary to have it on those devices. It was only necessary on face id iphones because the user’s face isn’t recognized while wearing a mask. Go buy a samsung and see if you get an update ohh that’s right you only got 2 upgrades then you left in the dark stop complaining. Well do you ever contact apple if there’s a bug I drought it.Yet another .1 update within days of release. Apple, this is getting tiresome.
GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.
Reset you phone helped with me.I was having Apple Watch unlock issues with iOS 14.7 with FACE ID. Strange that this update says it fixes it, but for only Touch ID.
Fantastic logic there..... unless you want the important security updates it also includes?![]()
Yeah I realized it after it wrote that. I got confused because this article got it backwards too. It looks like they’ve corrected it now.You got it backwards, mate.
It is the phone unlocking the watch...
From the article
"iOS 14.7.1 fixes a bug that could prevent Touch ID iPhones from unlocking an Apple Watch, an iOS 14.7 issue that Apple said it would fix in an upcoming software update."
iPhone (master) unlocking an Apple Watch (slave).
Meanwhile, I have noticed my X is not unlocking my series 6 as fast and reliable as it was in 14.6.
No, it doesn’t actually exist. I realized it after writing my post. The article had ot backwards, but they’ve corrected it now. The issue was with the phone unlocking the watch, not the other way around.A lot of the world wears gloves in winter. It was an easy addition that helped a lot of people. (I'm assuming it actually exists; I haven't used a Touch ID iPhone in a while.)
It’s not odd, it’s normal. When you’re on beta you don’t see the public releases until you remove the beta profile.Did this get pulled? Still not seeing it - phone has 14.7 and no updates available.
Nevermind - they apparently did not release it to people with the beta profile. Odd. Deleted beta profile and can now install.
Yes it was. And no, they didn’t actually implement the feature on touch id phones. I got confused because the article had it backwards, they’ve corrected it now. This wasn't created specifically because of the masks. This also benefits users that use gloves and Touch ID. This would have been welcomed back in the day when I had a Touch ID iPhone and wore gloves in the winter. (Gloves had capacitive touch.)
Here is a photo of the iPad (6th generation) with the white bezel not updated and my iPad (with black bezel) after the upgrade to the IPadOS 14.7.1. The visible screen size shrunk. Anybody notice this? If so, please let Apple know.
Apple today released iOS and iPadOS 14.7.1, minor bug fix updates that come just a week after the release of iOS 14.7, software that introduced new Apple Card features and support for the MagSafe Battery Pack.

Ah. I've actually had a lot of problems with my watch staying locked when I use FaceID to unlock my phone, though the 14.7.1 update seems to have fixed a lot of my problems and I think that might one of them. (I won't be confident for a few days yet.) I didn't think 14.7.1 was that big of an update, but the impact on my iPhone X has been huge. Maybe it reset some caches that had gone bad.No, it doesn’t actually exist. I realized it after writing my post. The article had ot backwards, but they’ve corrected it now. The issue was with the phone unlocking the watch, not the other way around.
