There are plenty of iPhone users out there that aren't "software developers" but have the technical knowledge to find and point out "bugs" in the software.

So then pay the $99 to become a developer, get access to beta software, and follow the NDA that you agree to (i.e. don't post in public forums about the beta software).

So does that mean that all Developers posting on macrumors forums should cease doing this?

Exchange 2003 still cannot sync in beta 2.

If I restore back to 3.1.3 it works perfectly.

4.0b1 and 4.0b2 both give the following error:

Exchange Account : Unable to verify account information.

I'm confused too, as my company uses Exchange 2003, and beta 1 worked fine.

Really? b1 worked for you? I get the same error on both b1 and b2.
The iPad on 3.2 gives a similar error but after a reboot it WILL sync.
iPhone 4.0 will just not sync under any circumstances on 2003 for me.

Technically, yes. I doubt that many real developers are discussing beta details on here...there are Apple forums for that. Most people in here discussing specifics either got the beta from an unauthorized source or paid the $99 just to get the beta software and are ignoring the contract they agreed to.

Do you work for apple?

I have tested OS4 Beta 2 ... and restored back the OS4 Beta 1 a few hours later - as I faced several crashes. Waiting for another Beta then.

I need to downgrade as well. Hopefully its as easy as reinstalling the original beta firmware.

The new beta does not save settings and I cannot turn off my cellular data (super important since I am in another country).

I'll have to wait for an update as well which is a shame because the apps that weren't working, all of the sudden started working lol.

How did you manage to get from 4 back to 3.1.3. I've been looking for a solution online and have not found one.

iPlayer

I get "the server not correctly configured" when I try and watch BBC iPlayer on Beta1. Anyone have any luck with this on B2. It's the only thing that would make me bither with B2, as opposed to waiting for B3 or 4.

Downgrading

Just use your (hopefully) backuped old firmware and do a re-install. Baseband of course will not be downgraded, though.

Be advised, significant and substantial bugs in this release. It is not usable. You can try to hold out until beta 3, but it's likely beta 1 will expire before that.

So again, if your not a developer, you have no business installing this on any device, and if you've ignored that fact up until now, you now get to pay the price :-D. I like that.

I did that but got the 1015 error or whichever one tells you you can't downgrade your iPhone from a higher firmware :(

Oh well no matter I really like OS4 anyway. I can't wait till it becomes a public release. I shouldn't have to do much, if anything to adjust the project I am working on to work on OS4.

Stop acting like a 13 year old. This isn't a game. A NON DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT is binding, and every single developer that discusses beta software publicly is at risk of losing his membership, aka, all future App Store business.

That's not a big deal to a child who's just looking for juicy tidbits on a forum, to adults it's a different matter.

Please do some reading other than this forum. There are ways to downgrade but you will not find them here. This is not a place where real technical knowledge is shared.

Head over to ModMyi forums and after about an hour of reading you'll know whether you have what it takes to downgrade to 3.x, or not.

That's not the point of the beta OS releases. It's not so that developers find bugs in Apple's software and report them. (That's a nice side effect but not the reason for the release). It's so that devs can test the software they're writing on OS 4, and make sure that on launch day their own app works well with the new OS.

Agreed and understood mate. Was just trying to make the point that its up to the customer/user to make the decision as to whether or not they want to install a beta on THEIR iphone.

I dont think I was acting like a 13 year old. I know its not a game - I am well aware of that. I can use the macrumors forums/website for what ever my agenda may be - thats the beauty of the internet.

Im not after juicy tidbits im genuinely interested in the feedback and progress and duration of releases for OS 4.0. I like to see what people are finding in the releases as it interests me, and I may (some day) go into the business of developing apps once I get my knowledge, skills and finances up to speed.

I also understand that the agreement for developers is a legal binding contract how ever let apple police it.....dont worry about policing it yourselves....
