I am holding out on buying iLife '11 to see if Apple will sell the applications separately in the app store. iPhoto is the only one I use on a regular basis. I have no use for an app like Garageband, so why do I have to pay for it?

Good idea to wait. They'll probably sell each app for $9.99 each which is cheaper and more useful than the whole suite. I've never used iDVD or iWeb. I looooove GarageBand though. Great for recording and mixing basic tracks.

I wish they ported an equivalent iPhoto App to the iPad. Photo on the iPad is just useless (especially since the iOS was upgraded to 4.2)and I am being polite.:(

this 9.1.1 should have been the 9.0 release: it still has a LONG way to go before it can compete with iphoto 09. the **** give me the easy set to background button and a real full screen mode.

Upgraded to '09 a week back and sold my copy of '11. Feel sorry for them still on iLife '11.

EDIT: Oh wait... I've just realised that iLife '11 is the new one.

I don't like the new iMovie so much, but other than that i've had zero problems with iLife '11, especially iPhoto. I love it. What problems have you had? (My iMovie is really slow since upgrading)

iMovie is def. slower for me as well. I have a very fast system and it just seems to chug along. Hopefully a 64-bit upgrade will help.

I don't know if this is an iPhoto issue or a iMovie issue, but in iMovie, when displaying iPhoto video, iMovie is displaying the videos depending on which folders they are in and not which event. This makes me have many video sections where should only be one.

I'm glad they added external email applications as a feature. I should say that they reimplemented it.

With the new iphoto when you sent photos by mail, they left through iphoto directly and there was no outgoing message record that I could find.

I see they failed to fix the calendar bug where only one event can show up per day.

This becomes a real problem if a birthday falls on a holiday or you have two birthdays on the same day.

Ridiculous. This was never a problem with previous releases.

How about putting the photo info back in a little, inconspicuous and non-space-wasting window at the bottom of the left column instead of taking up half the page (on my 13" screen) and needing a click to open it each time? And how about when I've clicked to enlarge one photo letting me click it again to return to the album, instead of having to click the arrow thing at the top of the screen? Seriously feels like I'm using another app altogether.

does anyone actually ever send photo emails with these template styles? it reminds me of people who went nuts with html formatted emails back in the day, with a bazillion different colours/fonts/fontsizes. obviously this is less gaudy, but it still feels like a "novelty" feature that is just adding needless filesize to recipient's inboxes.

I agree. Those were serious steps BACKWARDS in usability to me.

That and the fact that in the earlier iPhoto, you could use the ESC key to back out of edit mode, or pic mode, to go back to seeing the album, then the entire library.

Whatever happened to Apple wanting to implement a non-modal interface? iPhoto radically alters is screen based on modes.

These new App designers at Apple need to go back and study MacDraw for a while.

Yes, that's what I said. MacDraw.

Actually, they are kinda neat if sending to family members. But the interesting thing is that the photos are re-sized to use the templates. That's great in making the emails smaller, not-so if people actually want to use or print the photos out anywhere else.

Still not fixed the complete breakage of keyword access via AppleScript (rdar://8583568). Grrr!

e.g.

Code:
tell application "iPhoto"
	get name of every keyword
end tell

returns:

Code:
{missing value, missing value, missing value, missing value, missing value, missing value, missing value, missing value}

instead of a list of keywords.

Totally busted a load of my very handy iPhoto companion AppleScripts.

Double Letters fixed

This update appears to have corrected the problem where if you tagged a location that had (null) in the description, "double letters" would appear as you typed in the location name. Really a very minor annoyance, but still nice to see it corrected. Now if they'd go back to the previous way of storing original photos versus edited ones, I'd be happy.

how about an iweb update....

ya i know i am beating a dead horse......

A few of us are assuming that Apple will release an iWeb update through the Mac app store once it goes live or shortly thereafter. We're also betting they'll integrate full web page creation as well as a way to make a mobile version for the iPhone and iPad. It would make a great addition to the software.

Geotagging - Places - Show in Finder

Why did they remove the ability to geo-tag photos with exact coordinates manually in places? I'm also missing the show in finder with the right click.... Two features that I heavily relied on and made iPhoto my #1 photo organization software. I guess i'm going to try out Picasa. I've written Apple a few time about these feature removals and hopefully we'll see a reappearance in a future update.

iLife = MiHeadache

Worse iLife yet. Very disappointed. I hope they come out with a new one soon.
